New Way To Find The Right Color Blush

Beauty by Sloane a BB MUA on youtube had a very interesting way to find your correct blush color.

She said put a lip cream, or balm on clean lips and let it set in and match the lip color that you see on your lips would be the correct blush color for you.

I thought I would pass this on as I had never heard of this method before.

Has anyone heard of this?

No I haven't heard that method. My lips are pretty well pigmented and if I selected a blush similar to that color, I believe it would be too dark and vivid. I don't like my blush to be too obvious.

But I will bear your hint in mind. One must be open to new ideas. Thanks for posting about it.

Lips? What lips? Mine are so not visible and they don't have much color anyway. So that method would not work for me.

I often use my lipstick for a blush. I got this tip years ago from a Wayne Goss video. At first I was hesitant to try it because I have sensitive skin prone to breakouts, but I have never had a problem with it at all!

YES!!! I have been told for years to keep your blush in the same family as your lip or inner lip color.

Find your most flattering lip color and go from there!!!

Interesting concept, I've never heard of this method before. Blush has always been a tough one for me. I don't like pinks, peaches can be too orange, rose shades tend to go yellow looking and plum/berry shades are often too deep.

A MAC counterperson once suggested I go for a light mocha-colored blush, but everything I've ever been told or read says mocha shades are a "no-no" for light, cool-toned skin.

Then again, I've had my foundation matched at a MAC counter, NARS and Laura Mercier counters and the NARS Artist said I definitely fell into a neutral-toned skin category, while MAC and Laura Mercier put declared my skin tone to be cool.

Who knows? I've never been wowed by any blush I've worn.

Thanks - I've never heard of that method, but have always heard that you should try to match the natural color of your lips.

Like others, I also use my lipstick as my blush. So, if a color looks good on my lips, then the color works as my blush also.

I use BE Glee as my blush, nothing else looks like "me." If I were to run a mile or sit in a sauna, I would turn this color. Just like Leslie Blodgett said years ago, but she used other examples.

@cuddlesmama Never heard that one. My lips still have a pinkish color that would be too bright as blush. I learned at BB to match the perfect every day lipcolor to the inside of the client’s lip. Sure that’s not what she said? By the way, last time I saw her on YouTube, she was using many other lines and products besides BB. I thought she bailed. I know Marc Reagan, another global BB artist is now with another company. Hourglass, I think.

Hi Shanus, I did hear once that BB said to match the inside of your lips. I never tried that but youtuber Beauty by Sloane did say to match your lips in fact she showed how to do it with the lip cream etc.This woman only uses BB product. Maybe there is some one else on youtube with a similar name.

I've also been doing that for years ..... makes everything so much easier .... and never a "matching" problem.

hi @depglass - Leslie Blodgett was a wonderful spokesperson for her products. I used to buy a ton of BE when she was demonstrating her cosmetics. I bought a jar of Glee and have had it right after Sept 11, 2001. I was on the phone with one of the clerks in the BE store in San Francisco and telling her what had happened here in NY. She felt so bad for those of us living in NY, she sent me tons of samples, one of which was Glee. I immediately bought it and have had it ever since. I put it away for a while and recently took it out and I'm using it again. I equate Glee with Nars Orgas*m. It's not the same shade but it gives you that flush of natural color that we all love. I wonder if the Glee they're selling now is the same formula and the same ingredients and the same shade? Does anyone know?
