I've tried all of them, I think, with the exception of the Revlon lipstick in that shade. Yes, it's been around forever, but I can't wear a shade that deep.

I did try the Elizabeth Arden 8-hour cream years ago, because I had heard how great it was for so many different things, but I didn't like it at all. I remember it as being kind of greasy.

The rest I have tried and some I still use.

They all are classics.

If you watched The Today Show yesterday, you saw the presentation of the most timeless, tried and true, and popular cosmetics of the last 50-100 years around the world. One of these on the list has been around since the 1800's (Rosebud Salve).

These are:

1. Pond's Cold Cream (one sold every 4 seconds, or something like that)

2. Essie Nail Polish in "Ballet Slippers" (even the Queen wears this!)

3. Revlon lipstick "Cherries in the Snow" (since 1953)

4. Smith's Rosebud Salve (can be used for about everything from cream blush to healing diaper rash)

5. Maybelline "Great Lash" mascara

6. Elizabeth Arden "8-Hour Cream" (called that because when applied to a skinned knee, it takes 8 hours to heal the wound... supposedly)

7. Chanel No. 5

Do you use any of these? I had never heard of Rosebud Salve, but have used all of the others at one time or another. I currently use 3 of these.

Thoughts?

I have tried No.’s 1, 2, 4 and 5. Pond’s is too oily for me. Essie chips off before the day is over. The lip salve was nothing special. And the mascara is a classic, but holds no curl. Easy out the door type but nothing dramatic. Personally I do not care for Chanel No. 5, but prefer some of the Chanel fragrances. I do not use Elizabeth Arden products. And the Revlon lipstick I have never tried. The only one that I have repeatedly is the mascara as a quick fix item.

I remember my mom and all her friends used Pond's exclusively back in the 50's-60's. I use it too in the dry, cold winter months. It's too greasy for me in the summer, but perfect from Dec-Feb every year. Nothing, but nothing!, removes makeup like Pond's.

Thanks for your responses.

My Mom used Ponds to remove her makeup and Oil of Olay to moisturize, she had beautiful olive skin tone. I see Rosebud Salve in the drug store, but never used it, I'll have to give it a try.
