Using a liquid base now, switch from powder.

The powder just wasn't doing it for me anymore. The liquid is better, although, I think I'll need to go really light now. Maybe it's an age thing. ??

Has this changed for any other ladies? Shades, or liquid instead of powder?

I seem to go back and forth. I feel liquid seems to find my wrinkles faster. I just don't look the way I want to look. I have wasted so much money trying foundation that does not work. If you find a liquid that does not hunt down all your wrinkles please post it. I still have combination skin.

theres a new Maybelline foundation out now that's amazing sort of a dupe for IT CC, I can't remember the name though

Yes. As soon as I turned 50, the powder foundations seemed very drying and they settled into my new wrinkles. Primers didn’t work either. Now I use Dior Airflash with a brush and no primer. It has worked great for me. Less is more with this foundation. Yes, it’s pricy, but you don’t use much. I also buy with coupons at my local department store.

Dior Airflash with a flat head brush. It’s amazing for 60 year old skin. It never settles into my pores or wrinkles. I spray on the brush that they sell. I don’t spray directly on my skin.

I use Maybelline Fit Me - Dewey & Smooth with a damp Real Techniques beauty blender and I get a light smooth result.

Both inexpensive and can be purchased at Walmart.

I've been sorely tempted, when I see the ads on tv, to try that Luminess that you air brush on but don't know anyone who has tried it. Any of you ladies given it a whirl?

At 64, my combo skin is still loving Laura Geller's Balance & Brighten. It may not be the best for those with dry skin, though. I do occassionally use either LG's Quench & Tint cream foundation, or Mary Kay's CC cream. The Quench & Tint more in the winter when my skin is a bit drier, the CC in the spring/summer if I'm going to be outdoors, because it has SPF.

I also like Balance & Brighten in the summer as my skin is oily. Otherwise I use liquid drugstore foundations. I like Maybelline Fit Me. Cover Girl has a matte BB cream in a tube I use too.

Experiment to see what works for you. I like seeing the product in person and I can exchange/return in CVS, Walgreen's, Ultra.

There's plenty of advice here but if you're in your sixties and don't want to look older, bare minerals "Complexion Rescue", and for a powder foundation I use "Born that Way" by two-faced

I just turned 64 and can still use powder. I truly like IT CC cream and a few other of their products but I have found drug store items that do the same job.

@qualitygal It has always been said that if you are a mature woman to stay away from powders. I use a cream tinted moisturizer by No 7 for $13.99. Light coverage but evens out your skin. No 7 also has excelllent foundations. It is a UK company and their products are made in France.

I love both Powder and Liquid. I tend to use Powder(mineral) in the Summer months and Liquid in the Winter months......Right now I am loving Everyday Mineral Powder foundation, as well as Halo from Smashbox. Both are very nice for me, but I still do have to use a Finishing Powder over them to absorb excess shine......

@qualitygal It is a lot of trial & error to find what works for you. And, then when you do your skin or the weather changes & you have to adjust, again.

I have combo/oily/easily dehydrated/old skin that breaks out from every other thing that I use. Cleanser, foundation, moisturizer, powder, concealer...whatever.

I've not found a primer that does anything for me, unless it breaks me out.

Powder foundation has never worked for me. I get oily & it disappears by noon.

Liquid foundation works better for me & I change & adjust the foundation/coverage as I need to.

Becca Ever Matte Shine Free Foundation is the most matte foundation that I have ever used. Med coverage.

Mac Studio Finish Fluid Foundation-Med coverage natural finish.

Tarte Tinted Treatment BB Primer SPF30-Light coverage that evens out your skintones & has a soft finish.

Philosophy Renewed Hope In A Jar Skin Tint SPF20-Seems very similar to the Tarte.

The set that I bought here at the Q has a foundation brush that is the only foundation brush that I can use.

Brushes & sponges that others have loved, just don't work for me. My foundation looks too heavy or cakey or wears weirdly.

Using my fingers to apply my foundation lets me apply the coverage that I want without it getting heavy & gathering in creases.

Once I found Bobbi Brown foundation stick that was a winner for me. It goes on sheer but it covers. It just looks like my skin but better. I have sensitive skin with issues and allergies so to find a product that works for me is always a quest.

The other two products that I like are Dr. Denese day cream. It is an multi tasking product. (sunscreen/moisturizer/ cc cream) I use this on days when I know I'm going to be outside for a long time with chores. It again looks like my skin and feels like nothing on your face.

My last product that I like is Laura Geller's Balance and Brighton. I use this on days where I have so much redness and discoloration from my allergies and health issues. It evens out my skintone fairly well and disquises most of my issues.

At almost 75, I have seen my complexion go lighter. Aging and hormonal changes can cause a lot of things to occur !

I use both, I just alternate depending on my mood. I find powder foundation goes on much faster so if I'm in a hurry that's the way to go. There are so many great foundations out there nowadays. My current faves are Laura Gellar Baked Elements (holy grail) and Tarte foundcealer. These are all good for not showing fine lines and wrinkles.

I am trying to use up an Urban Decay Naked Skin liquid foundation that I usually wear during the cooler months. With my slight tan, it looks strange on my face. So to solve this problem, I’ve been dabbing NARS Laguna bronzer powder over specific areas to darken the foundation.

It has worked.

I switch around a lot. I like something one minute and then something else the next! Right now I am into Neutrogena Healthy Skin. I'm 67 and I think if you apply it lightly it does a pretty nice job. Has a smooth feel - although doesn't haven't quite as much coverage as I would like, but for me that's a trade off for not being so heavy that i does stick and highlight lines.

If it's really hot and sticky out, then I go back to LG Balance & Brighten. Light, easy and good coverage.

I use the Maybelline Fit Me in the Stick foundation. When Max Factor Pan Stik went off the market and the eBay costs went up to close to $100.00 for my shade I had to finally find something else. Just bought two new ones last week at Walmart, under $7.00 here. Works fine but still not M.F. and I do still keep the Merle Norman Total Finish on hand special occasions. I just never could apply the liquid foundtions well.
