Neogen Pore Mousse

Has anyone here used Neogen Pore Mousse? It’s a TS on HSN today.

The black bits on the cloths the models show after using the product are from charcoal in the mousse not from your pores. I heard the vendor say there was charcoal in the mousse that gets activated when massaged into skin, but it still seems a bit misleading to show the black specks on the cloths. Reviews on various sites are either really good or really bad.

I already use Paula’s Choice BHA. It helps some, but always looking for something better. Trying not to fall for the hype as I have done that before and been disappointed in the lack of results.

i ordered it last night.

i do use the nose pore strips, but they can hurt when you remove them.

cannot hurt to try it once. i have not heard of this line before.

I heard Chelsea, the rep, mention that the product has polyhydroxy acids in it. I can't remember if she said it had BHAs or AHAs or not, but I know PHAs don't do much in the way of cleaning out pores. PHAs are are like a milder form of AHA which pretty much don't go into the pores. Did anyone hear Chelsea say if the product has BHAs in it?

I was curious about it too, but they made it sound like an exfoliator; I wanted to know how it worked just on pores. I seem to remember it having mixed reviews but some people loved it. Of course, when I went to check that the original size isn't listed -- just the TS Supersize. I'm probably going to pass on it, but curious :-)

That’s what I was thinking. Couldn’t hurt to try it. Just been disappointed in the hype of other pore products.

Didn’t know about PHAs. Thanks for the info.

DH & I use this and the serum on autoship. I thought I had "age" or "sun" spots but mostly gone now & my dark eyelids are gone. DH really goes through the serum.

I didn't get the TS because we have the serum and mousse on auto delivery.

Sorry, I don't have answers about the pore mousse, but I was wondering the exact same thing. If it works well, it seems like it would be a really gentle and easy solution for deep pore cleansing. I may jump in and try it anyway, because God knows, I often can't prevent myself from doing so, ha, ha.

I looked at the ingredients in the mousse and I couldn't find a BHA listed. It's usually salicylic acid. But that doesn't mean it's not there. It might be that I don't recognize the name used in the listings. I couldn't find a AHA or PHA either. The PHA must be there if she said it was there.

My cleansers and Foreo Luna dupe do a very good job of keeping my pores clean and other items in my routine keep them small/tight. Every once in a while, maybe twice a month, I'll do a Skinn Pore Magnet mask. That's enough pore attention for me.

What specific products in your routine do you think help your pores? I have very oily skin. What is your skin type?

I don't have oily skin but I like to keep my pores as clean as possible. I've used Paula's Choice 2% BHA. I've used Glycolix Elite (BHA). I've made my own diy 2% BHA, it's sort of a pain to make but I like it a lot but I just hate making it. So I've gone back to Stridex Maximum and all I can say is that it works just as good as PC or my own diy BHA....and it's so affordable and easy to find anywhere. Stridex does not contain any alcohol and I know that was discussed on this forum before because many people thought it contained alcohol and it does not. The only ingredient I don't like is the menthol but it's far enough down on the deck that I'm not overly concerned with it. I use it every other morning. My skin can get dry so that's why I don't use it everyday. I think if you have oily skin then you probably could use them everyday. Stridex is a top-rated skin care product and it's been around for a very long time.

I bought it, I returned it, not impressed. There are numerous masks the same as this out there. Don’t get me wrong it’s not awful just redundant for me. Neogen makes some good stuff though.

I used to have oily/combo skin from puberty on well into adulthood. When Tatcha was launched on QVC a few years ago, I was intrigued but did like the prices. I went to Amazon, to see if they had anything similar and stumbled upon Dr. Young Camellia Deep Cleansing Oil and Fleur de Lis Rice and Papaya Enzyme Cleansing Powder. The oil purges the gunk from the pores and the enzyme powder works as a gentle exfoliant. I realize it seems counterintuitive to put oil on your face if you have oily skin, but if you think back to your high school science class, oil disolves oil. On the other hand, if you apply products to dry up the oil, your skin is going to send a message to the brain that says, "Oh, I'm dry now, help me. The brain relays a message to your oil glands to send more oil to your face to counteract the dryness. It becomes a vicious cycle. Once I began using the cleansing oil, my natural oil production normalized in very short order.

I have continued with the Dr. Young cleansing oil as part of my PM routine to this day, but I don't like it near my eyes so I use a different product there. I have moved on from the Fleur de Lis enzyme powder yet still believe in exfoliation, but have other products for that. I usually do a 2-step cleanse at night; first removing my makeup (step 1) and then doing the oil cleanse (step 2). Some people will use the oil cleanse as their first step and then follow up with a creamy or foamy cleanser for a second cleanse. I also use a silicone cleansing brush (Foreo Luna dupe from Amazon) to massage my cleansing oil around my face before rinsing. After my AM cleanse, I use a Stridex Maximum Strength Pad on my forehead where my sebacous hyperplasia developed, but I will also use it down and around my nose since there's so much product on the pad. A couple of times a month, I use SKINN Cosmetics Pore Magnet Peel Off Mask. I'm also careful about my moisturizers. My AM serums have enough moisture for me. If I wear a tinted moisturizer instead of foundation, that will add more so a separtate moisturizer, IMO, just isn't necessary.

@SilleeMeeare you talking about the Stridex pads? I have never used them on my face because my skin too tends to be dry and I was afraid they would cause me problems.

I use Paula's Choice BHA liquid every night. If I try to use that twice a day, my skin gets super dry, especially my chin.

I have used the Stridex pads on my feet and they did a great job. I have been having real issues with KP on the backs of my upper arms. I always had great success with AmLactin but now all of a sudden that isn't working. Cerave SA didn't do anything for me and neither did either of the Paula's choice body products for this. Now I bought Burts Bees that has lactic acid in it. Today is the firs day using it. I was thinking about trying the Stridex pads on my arms along with the lotion and seeing if that helps.

I have been using Paula’s BHA for years. It does help some, but it is expensive, and I always looking for something better. I haven’t used Stridex in years. A bit concerned about the menthol as strong scents bother me. Might pick up some when I am out tomorrow.

@wilma, I agree. The presentation is very misleading. I think I did hear her mention it at the midnight showing, but I did not hear her say that in one of the evening presentations. They just kept showing the models wiping the stuff off and then showing what was on the cloth. And the presenter was saying look at all that gunk she got off and said somethig along the lines of that's a mixture of the stuff from her pores and the oil on her face, and the model would smile and nod.

Of course, that doesn't mean the product doesn't work or at least do something good to the skin, but it doesn't sell me on it.
