Most presentations I see they make suggestions of how you can use a product or where you might use it. That, to me, doesn't say it's the only way to use a product. But he said ONLY which tells me he actually thinks the inner corner of the eye is the only place it should be used.

And I don't take what makeup artists say as the only way to do it. I was strictly commenting on his assertion that it was the only way to do it.

I am not a Skinn user, but I was watching the presentation today. He has a combo foundation/concealer called Collagenesis. Don't know if it's old or new. But when he was demo-ing it he applied it to the inner part of her eye and said you should only apply concealer to that area. Now. having watched so many other lines where they put concealer all over the place I was was surprised at this comment. What else would you use underneatht the eye if you have dark circles?

I don't use much concealer and I don't have dark circles, but I mostly have avoided the inner corner of the eye because it tends to get cakey there. I also don't have bags, but I do get shadows underneath the eye wehre the bottom of a bag would be and that is where I have always used concealer along with the diagonal depression going from the inner corner down and across my cheek.

I may have hope for that inner corner though. I just received the Kim Gravel set they had on recently and one of the items was the Hover Cover. I tried it for the first time today and no caking, even later i the day. But, I've only used it once and I got something in my eye late in the day, so wasn't able to see how it fared because of my eye watering and me putting drops in to try and get it out.

I, for one, do not care for the look of concealer at the entire under eye, which to me, looks like raccoon eyes.

I'm sure this varies with each individual, though.

Step away and look carefully to see exactly where any shadow falls, where darkness occurs. You may find that it is not under the whole eye, but closer to the inner corner.

Try to keep your inner corners taut and smooth, so use your skin care there as well.

I use Victoria Principal Reclaim Radiance Illuminating Youth Wand, much like the YSL Touche Eclat. I only need to place a bit of concealer near the inner corners for brightening up. I use a dry brush to smooth over any hint of shadow.

The theory of how to apply concealer will vary among makeup artists. I personally love Trish McEvoy's philosophy of the "triangle of light" whereby the concealerand/or brightener is applied in an inverted triangle shape from directly below the lower eyelid down to the top of the cheekbones.

I have always just applied mine in the inner corner to about the middle part because it does migrate a tad anyway. This again is an individual thing. For those who have very dark circles it makes sense to apply to the entire undereye area.

How can any makeup tip be "one-size-fits-all"? If it works for you, then fine. To listen to any one and translate what they say for every one, to me seems kind of silly.

IT would have us all smothered over with foundation; Mally would have us all with lashes beyond our eyebrows....

These people are only making suggestions.

But I really don't think many people have darkness to the outside corners of their eyes. Why would you want to draw out concealer there?
