Like any procedure one might be contemplating, homework is important. Research, inquire about the person's license, is it expired, is it current for the state you're living in; ask for satisfied customer's names, read reviews, visit the location, check with your local health department to see if any have been filed, there are different inks used for cosmetic tattoos (find online), ask about the ink and methods used to make sure they are in compliance.

I did the research with my Mother 6 years ago when she wanted to have her eyebrows tattooed. She decided to go to a dermatologist who had 3 cosmetologists trained in eyebrow tattooing, among other things on staff.

The procedure was not painful. A topical anesthetic was applied before her procedure, she said felt only a few pin pricks. Her eyebrows turned out beautifully, she had no side effects or follow up problems at all. At 6 years, they have started to fade somewhat, (she was told fading would happen when she first interviewed them) she plans to go back in a few months to have them darkened again.

Has anyone had their eyebrows tatooed? If so, how long does it last? I heard it is pretty pricey too. I have dark brown hair but now my brows are thinning and I have a few gray hairs in the mix. I am 65.

I have very dark brown, nearly black brows. I started losing the tails and that is very noticeable when you have darker brows like mine. I started using a lash growth product (Careprost same as Latisse) on my brows and I can't believe how much that has made my brows fuller and my tails are back, too! I'm very happy with the results so far. I've been applying the Careprost for almost eight weeks now.

I know of several ladies who have had it done. One's turned green after a couple years. She had brownish blond before they started graying. Two others turned blue (navy blue, very noticeably navy blue). Each had very black eyebrows before losing them following cancer therapy. There are several whose looked very good but they continue having touch-ups. It is very expensive. I have a friend who gets her eyeliner tattooed but she refuses to do her eyebrows because she has seen so many failures. She has the money and has regular touchups for her eyeliner. Looks great. She has hers done in Houston, TX which she believes is the best based on what people have told her but she says even so, she has seen some eyebrows that did not do well. It might depend on the condition of the skin, the health of the patient and a variety of things.

My SIL had her eyebrows tattooed about 8 years ago and she has never been happy with them. The ash brown color has barely faded in that time. You may want to consider microblading your eyebrows.

My eyebrows are very thin- I’ve recently started using an ultra fine light grey Sharpie on my eyebrows and I love it! My hair is dyed a light silvery ash blonde. I draw individual hairs. I first used light brown but it was too auburn for my taste.

Yes, I love mine.

What you you need to know; they are about $400 -$500, that includes one complete session and a fill in after 30 days. You need to get them refreshed every year or so, depending on how you feel about them. The refresh is not included in the original $

they do use a numbing jell but it still hurts. It’s like little tiny razors cutting into your skin.

Don’t drink coffee before the procedure, they’ll bleed more

i have very light brow, both color and amount of hair, dark blonde hair and went with a taupe color. They have made a big difference in my face and I feel like I look “cute” first thing in the am!

Go on Pinterest and see the different shapes and decide what works for you, have the technician draw them on so you can see what they’ll look like.....Remember, they will look too dark for abput 10 day, then the scabs come off and voila, you are a movie star.

Lastly, research the techs in you area and ask to see photos of their work.

Yikes! I was giving you information on microblading NOT tattooing! So sorry.

I had mine done almost 6 -7 years ago. I went to a person who charged $600 - used to work for a physician. The first session was informational and she did a patch test w/the ink. One of the things that prolongs them is not using sunscreen or other creams on your brows. And wearing a hat when in the sun.

My tails wore off a few years ago but the front is still noticable but fading.

I loved it!!!!!

I had microblading done which is a much better solution than actual tattooing. After losing my brows to chemo I went to a licensed estitician and had them done. First for a consult and test the area, then they measure your bone structure on your face and draw the outline on. After your approval they start the procedure. My cost was $500 which also included a 30 day touch up. I will go back after one year and touch them up again. They do fade a bit but it's the best $500 I've ever spent. It is so liberting to always have a nice brow!!! It stings a bit but well worth it.

Had mine tattooed on a couple of months ago. I am 75, silver/white short hair and naturally dark eyebrows that lost their volume and tails a long time ago. Best decision! My new medium silver/gray brows have added definition to my face. Compliments from people who know I had it done, or from those I tell. Even with numbing gel, sure was a bit “ouchy”, particularly on the arch, but not excruciating. Took about an hour after I approved the preliminary drawn on ones. I was emphatic about wanting a very fine, not thick, tail and definitive arch. Got what I wanted. Went to licensed person, who’s been doing brows for years. Back for touch up after 30 days...$500 + tip.

My BFF got hers tattooed and it looked weird for awhile. She's had them re done 2 more times to tweak them. She shudders at the procedure, and the healing time . I wouldn't do it myself--I am pretty good at drawing mine on. The cost for her is a few hundred $$ each time. She goes to a very highly - reputed person too. It last for awhile but will need touch ups too. I think its been 2 years that she has been working on them.

Microblading is the way to go. I just commented on another post here in the thread about least favorite beauty task and it was doing my brows daily for sure!

My microbladed brows are virtually undetectable - so, so natural. I cannot recommend this technique enough. Best thing I did (for myself) ever!!!
