Carolyn Gracie's Estee Lauder Perfume????

Carolyn was on yesterday with Cara Kahn presenting the TSV and Cara asked her "what perfume are you wearing." I missed what Carolyn said only that it was (?) and "oldie but a goodie by Estee Lauder."

My mother wore Beautiful. She gifted it one year to my daughter. I love the way it smells, however, it doesn't smell good on me. I wear the dusting powder and get the same wonderful scent. AHHHH memories of my mom. It is funny how a scent can't evoke thoughts of times past.

I remember my Sister in Law wearing this perfume on her Wedding Day. She wore it for several years after as well, and it always smelled so good on her. She then moved onto Pleasures, which to me was headache inducing! lol! Beautiful is a really nice fragrance, I think!

A dear friend of mine wore Pleasures and it smelled soooo good on her. Decided to give it a try and, like you, had a raging headache within minutes. Was so disappointed, but kept enjoying it on my gal pal.

I went into a cosmetics store at the outlet a while back that has all

Estee Lauder brands and smelled some of the ones I used to wear and loved and they gagged me. I don't know if they changed or more likely I have changed. I could not believe I wore some of them and loved them. The only one I like now is Modern Muse. When I went through menopause my smell changed along with my taste buds.

@chiclet I used to wear Youth Dew in my earlly life because my mother had worn it for years. It grew unlikeable to my sinuses. I wore White Linen and now just a whiff of that provokes an asthma attack. I think it might be us that changed. Some colognes I can tolerate and others I cannot. I go in the opposite end of the department stores from the colognes. My favorite dept store has their handbags near the cosmetics. I may never get to see them again.

Estee Lauder's Beautiful was one of my youthful favorites. It is a great perfume, but I always hated Youth Dew. Bleech!

I quit wearing perfumes when I found out I was allergic to bee stings. I have a moderate allergy--will swell up like a mother but won't go into anapylactic shock--so I do use some scented Philosophy and other products now. No colognes or perfumes, but creams, soaps, lotions, etc., are okay.

I loved so many of the EL scents but when the ingredients had to be changed (by law), none of them worked on me any longer. I held on to the old bottles I had and hit EBAY and now...I have none left.

The vast majority of the "old" scents I adored no longer work so I had to find new scents to fall in love with. I have but still preferred the ones that were made before their ingredients had to be changed. *sigh*
