I had Vobella in my lips last year and it is really nice. They numb you for about 30 minutes and it's no big deal. Not big fish lips just a nice enhancement.

Laser Genesis---It Really Works!

I posted back in March about how I had purchased a package for 3 Laser Genesis treatments. Laser Genesis is like "baby Fraxel" in that it helps with collagen production without the downtime (or cost). So far, I've had 4 treatments and keep getting compliments on my skin! I even had one from my mother who was awful when I was growing up ( I had mild acne). I chose this treatment because it's supposed to help with acne scarring and let me tell you it really does. If you ever get the chance, please try it.

Sounds great @JBKO. I don't have any scarring but I do have recurring spider veins that appear as red dots on my face. It's a symptom of an AI disease scleroderma so I go and have my face lasered about every couple of years. When I go there I ask a lot of questions ...about different kinds of laser treatments. My laser tech said she did quite a few of the laser resurfacing like you had to smooth out the skin and induce collagen. Her clients come back frequently. She said I didn't need that since I already had a 'laser lift' several years ago and my skin is still smooth and tight from that. She said all that she would recommend is some fillers for the vertical lip lines I have from the scleroderma and possibly some fillers for my lips themselves. I said NO to the fillers. The tech said they are sort of painful for around the lips and in the lips...no thanks! I'm happy with my pencil lips and lip lines.

My derm said she had other scleroderma patients that had experienced a lot of pain with fillers for some reason. I think it might have something to do with the harder and thicker skin that scleroderma patients have, but I'm not absolutely sure why and my derm is not clear about that either.

I would love to get some sort of skin tightening procedure, although not sure I could afford it. Something that also stimulates collagen production.

Mostly what is available in my area seems to be Fraxel, which I would prefer not to do. I'm thinking maybe Ultherapy or the Aerolase that I see Kathie Lee Gifford had done. I know we don't have Aerolase in my area, but I think one plastic surgery clinic in the area does Ultherapy.

I asked a lot of questions about my options. Some procedures are not meant for some and then there are other kinds of things they can do instead. It all comes down to what your particular needs are and the condition of your skin, laxity and tone. Most consult fees run anywhere from $50 to $100 depending on where you go and sometimes they will waive that fee if you decide to accept an offer for one of their treatments. @Icegoddess

There are no derms or plastic surgeons who do lasers in my area. They rely on techs in their adjoining medi spas or a nurse. If someone’s touching my face w/ anything that could go terribly wrong, it won’t be someone without a Dr. before their name. I have no idea how much training these techs have completed? 6 wks.? We’re not talking experience. One tech told me she had 3 wks. training by the person who sold the laser to the office. No way!!
