Selling Gently Used Makeup

Good morning! I was just wondering if anyone knew of a good website that I could sell gently used makeup and new makeup. I will purchase makeup and use it one time and never return it. Thanks!

I would never buy makeup that was “gently used”. I don’t think it’s sanitary.

I doubt there is a market for "gently used makeup". Return it if it doesn't work for you, that is your best alternative.

@LadyEaglesI can't imagine any website allowing the sale of used make-up - way too many legalities for that.

We’ve talked about here our disgust receiving supposedly new products that appeared to be used, seals broken etc. Intentionally selling or purchasing used makeup or skincare is a big NO.

A charity I donate to won't take used makeup. Doubt that there is a market for such.

My niece is a theater major (and does theater stuff as a volunteer), so I give her all of my makeup and brushes used, slightly used or band new and they will use it for their productions (and halloween).

Who would buy "gently" used makeup products? Even if in a pump bottle. It still could be contaminated or even tampered with! Once you unseal or open a product it will start to break down even if you never use it again! I say return it as soon as you know you don't like it! I would be a bit embarassed to even donate used (even if only used once) makeup products let alone expect to sell them.

Believe it or not, there is a market out there for gently used mu. Sites such as Glambot and Poshmark. Poshmark is mostly for clothes, however, I think there is now a small market for mu. I think there are a lot of places now where you can sell so I would do a search if I were you to know what is out there.

I dont know much about these sites, how they operate, how good they are because I never used or ordered from there, but some sites to get you started.

Also Project Beauty Share as someone mentioned is also a good place to donate.

I think beauty youtubers made the selling of gently used mu possible. I would never buy used mu but there are others that would and there is nothing wrong with that.

@LadyEaglesI don't like to return makeup, that I just decide that I don't like, either.

Luckily my DIL, daughter & sister usually help me out, but I did have a blog sale about 4 years ago & sold a lot of makeup. Used, but clean makeup.

It was easier then. If you were a member of Makeup Alley we used to swap & then you would leave each other tokens so you could build a reputation for sending out clean packages with products just how you described them. It was a lot of fun. Before the bad people ruined it.

So when I had my blog sale I already had a good reputation. We didn't swap or sell liquid eyeliner, mascara or lip glosses.

I know that there are FB pages, Reddit & Poshmark that you can sell makeup on, but I have not bought or sold anything any of those places.

You can search on makeupalley for the posts or just ask & someone will give you more information.

I'm sorry if you were made to feel badly about asking this question.

I'm sure it seems strange to the average person, but it's not to the average makeup lover! LOL

Too much chance of bacteria in makeup that has been opened or used!! I would not ever buy used.

When I was working in a biohazard lab, we would use a decontamination box with UV light to kill germs on some of our equipment. You may have seen something similar to this at the salon where they put grooming tools to decontaminate them. I would imagine that something like this can also be used to decontaminate makeup and makeup tools.

@LadyEagles Maybe rethink your makeup buying habits? Sounds like you need to concentrate on sticking with things you like and will use and maybe not experimenting so much! I think MANY of us have been there at one time or another. Good luck!
