I have an Artis oval 7 brush and have been using it daily for at least 2 years. It works beautifully with both liquid and powder foundations. I dot the foundation on areas of my face and then spread and blend with the brush. For areas where I want fuller coverage, I tap the foundation on with the brush. I wash it weekly with Benjabelle brush soap and it easily comes clean. The Artis brush was definitely a splurge for me but since I've been using it every day for a long time, it was well worth it. I had a few dupes before the Artis, but they didn't work as well.

Ok not exactly foundation but a tinted sunscreen (Australian Gold).

I thought I'd try this Artis dupe that I have, instead of my fingers, as an experiment.

First of all, I noticed that the product thinned out a lot more as I was spreading it and although it gave me a streak-free finish, the coverage was much lighter. Then I tried to wash the brush. OMG

It took many, many scrubbings (using a silicone brush cleaning pad and soap), rinsing and repeating before no more color ran out of this brush!

The bristles are packed so densely that yes, they give a lovely finish but they also absorb a ton of product instead of depositing it on your face!

I won't be using this brush like that again!

Any of you ladies find these types of brushes good for applying liquid or cream products? If so, how the heck do you get the product out of your brush? TIA

To clean makeup brushes I use Sephora makeup Brush Shampoo. You would not believe how much makeup will come out. Great product.

I thought makeup sponges were hard to get clean but this was way more work!

@Texasmouse

I don't like to use paddle brushes or kabuki brushes to apply liquid foundation for the reasons you've mentioned. I find those dense brushes absorb so much foundation that it's next to impossible to clean and wash them and get all of the product out of them. If I use a foundation brush it's a flat one but even then it can be hard to wash them and get the product out of them. It's also one reason I don't like white makeup brushes as they can stain so badly and are next to impossible to look like they were when you bought them.

I notice that both the tinted Australian Gold SPF 50 mineral sunscreen and the untinted white kid's version are also hard to wash off your face and body as well. They really do stick to the skin!
