Concealer help

I have just decided to use concealer under my eyes. I feel I have some darkness (may bluish) under my eyes.

I have never used one before, and purchased Mally 3 piece system with brush. Seemed like a good value, but it's all too yellow for me. I understand color correction, but these 3 pieces are all too yellow. This is so frustrating, as I struggle getting a color that isn't so yellow. I am very fair.

Is there a concealer that anyone can recommend that wouldn't be so yellow? I am a novice and don't really know where to start.

I used to swear by Edward Bess's heavy duty concealer, but I think it's kaput so I switched to Bobbi Brown's Creamy Concealer in beige, which works fine. The 'sand' choice is a bit more yellow, though, so be aware.

I have used byebye under eye concealer but as I am now over 40, it cracks and settles. I recently started using the tarte shape tape concealer under my eyes. I use light In the winter and spring and now use medium for the summer. I am a light skin tone towards medium in the summer.

ITA - Shape Tape is amazing! I have always had "allergy eyes," with bluish dark circles underneath. This is one of the best I've found.

Just starting using Age Rewind under my eyes...really helps. I think it is Cover Girl; comes in a tube applicator which I like.

I use Merle Norman Dual Action Concealer in my inner eye corners. If you have a MN nearby they will find the right shade for you.

I’m loving Doll 10 Hydrogel concealer.

Sold here & on her web, unfortunately the lighter colors are sold out on Q.

I too have struggled with products that are too yellow, this is not. Not really a gel, more a thicker liquid. Does not wrinkle, crease, or look pasty. Easy to apply, great coverage.

Just purchased 3rd refill which is very unusual for me, never liked another concealer enough to re-order.

CRUELTY FREE.

Too Faced Born This Way concealer is supposed to be as good as, if not better than, Tarte’s Shape Tape. Many reviews say they like it better bc it is not drying and therefore works better around the eyes - meaning it doesn’t crack or look dry and accentuate under eyes lines.

I bought this concealer because it was recommended here and it has stellar reviews. It's very highly rated and I couldn't agree more. This one has the consistency of a thick liquid foundation, goes on smoothly, never feels tacky, does not need a setting powder and never settles. The application is done by turning the bottom of the tube then the product comes out the top where a small dome-shaped sponge absorbs it then dab it on. But I find this sponge thing wasteful and not sanitary so I simply pulled it right off of the tube. I apply mine with a small brush. You don't need much and it can be layered for more coverage if that is what you need.

If a yellow-base concealer doesn't look right on your skin, I would suggest either the Brightener or Fair versions. These have pink undertones. @hyacinth003

@hyacinth003 Welcome to the concealer search. I’d first suggest using a corrector (peach toned, not yellow to cancel the blue tones). Bobbi Brown and other lines have good ones in peach. Then you need much less concealer. I use either NARS concealer in tube w/ a doe foot (like gloss) or Bobbi Brown corrector and concealer in pots. There are drugstore brands, as well, but like foundation, I think a good match (dept. store counters) begins your makeup w/ a color correct canvas.

@SeaMaiden Maybe just me...many people like that one...I found it too heavy/full coverage. There was also hardly any product in the tube. I returned one thinking it had been used & returned.

@stevieb I usually have 2 concealers...one a shade lighter than foundation for under eyes and one the same as my foundation to use around my nose or any reddish areas. Recently found Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage w/ 2 shades to mix as needed for face, but still like my BB corrector/concealer for under eye.

Another vote for Bye Bye Undereye. It has to be used very lightly, building coverage as needed. And I mean VERY lightly! I have Shape Tape, and it's a beautiful product, but I find it dry and it does settle into lines on me. Another one that has to be used very lightly! If it wasn't so dry, and didn't settle into lines, I would prefer it to the BBUE

@ItsME YES! very very little dabbed on... pat it lightly and reapply if you need more coverage... it does not settle into lines or look dry around the eyes like many concealors. One small tube lasts a long long time even if you use it all over your face.

Bobbi Brown makes a 3 piece system and it is not yellow base. I have the same problem. I think it's called Correct & Conceal & Set. It really works and only takes a minute or two to get the results.

I have a fair, neutral to cool skin tone and the Fair is absolutely PERFECT. Yes, I am shouting because I have tried just about everything to hide my blue circles and this WORKS! No lines, creases and stays for the entire day. I look like I have absolutely no circles when I apply it.

Probably close to my favorite product that I use in makeup.

@hyacinth003 Give Laura Mercier a try. Sold at Nordstrom too for free shpg and can be returned free if it doesn't work out. I use her Secret Concealer but she has one that has two colors for dark circles and it comes in a square compact. I never had any problems with the concealer I use by her No settling in lines, applies easily. It's called Secret Camouflage and it is suppose to give you the perfect shade. Check it out.

So far my problem is that it was too yellow.

I did find it caked under one eye, but since I am not experienced using it, the problem may be my application.

I don't like the white look under the eyes that you sometimes see. In correcting darkness, they overdo it with whiteness.

It didn't even really disguise the darkness! It just turned it yellowish.
