Anyone have the Philosophy Ballet Rose or Nude Rose scent or cream?

While personal experiences differ, so many woman rave about some of the Philosophy scents (especially Amazing Grace) and the fact that they are not overwhelming (some health care workers wear it, many teachers of young children).

I didn't care for yesterday's TSV scents, but as a long-time Rose Lover, I read the reviews and found a lot of women really loving the newer Philosophy rose scents.

I wasn't sure just how strong they might be (reviews differed), so I ordered both the ballet rose (presumably stronger) and nude rose (more mild). Also ordered both the eau de toilette and cream; the layering seemed to make sense. I suspect body creams might last longer than just a spritz.

Love to hear from anyone who has used the rose scents or body creams!

I was very interested in trying these when they first came out. Love rose scent and Philosophy scents too. Tried they both at Ulta and was disappointed. The rose scent smelled fake, like pretent roses.

My experience, over decades, has often been that the "counter test" has proved disappointing. A scent I adore on someone doesn't come across at the counter, with many perfumes I've tried (quite expensive, too) seem bland.

I suspect that a scent really needs wearing, body chemistry and warmth, to come across, versus spraying on a strip (even if they allow you to walk around the store a bit).

That's why I am hoping the body creams enhance the scent!

At the same time, it's why I love the Qs return policy. So many reviewers loved it that I would always wonder . . . + it was FREE SHIPPING DAY!

Many years ago the Q had a gift set with Amazing Grace, Pure Grace, and Baby Grace and tried and loved them all. Then along came Summer Grace and fell in love.

I’ve tried Ballet Rose and Nude Rose in Dillard’s and I like them both but want to finish what I have on hand before buying something new.

I also think layering is the way to keep the scent on all day long.

I have the ballet rose and really like it. I only have the fragrance. It smells good but very floral. I think it's quite strong compared to other philosophy scents. Two sprays is plenty! It lasts on me all day.

@slt79Thanks for your comments on Ballet Rose. That was the one I had considered purchasing; then did not buy anything. I'm getting the impression the Ballet Nude may be a lighter fragrance. Have you tried it or heard anything? Would be curious if (or when) you have the chance to try it for additional comments from you.

BTW: I was recently surprised when the dealership driver was taking me home. She asked what perfume I was wearing. (I never wear perfume and was taken aback.) It finally dawned on me that the only scent she could possibly be smelling was Philosophy's Amazing Grace Emulsion Body Lotion, which I had applied following my shower hours earlier! (My car appointment was at 2:00 pm.) Was so surprised anyone could smell that fragence, I was unable to tell her what it was! The dealership is my son's . . . so I gathered my wits and sent him an email with the info for the body lotion!! He replied that if was, indeed, the best fragrance ever . . . and he would pass it on to the Courtesy Car driver!

My favorite scents from Philosophy are Baby Grace, Pure Grace and Unconditional Love, but I recently got a sample of Ballet Rose and I really liked it. My mother immediately noticed it on me because she loves floral scents so I gave it to her as a gift. She said it smells like Roses de Chloé by Chloé. I think it does but Chloe's lasts longer. Although I love Pure Grace, I was underwhelmed by Nude Rose. It barely smells like rose. If you are one of those ladies that likes to wear perfume before going to bed, nude rose would be ideal, if you like the fragrance of course.

@BirkiLadyI have not had the opportunity to smell the nude rose. They did make it sound like a lighter version on air. If I do come across it, i'll let you know. It's so hard to buy fragrances without sniffing them. I wish they'd put together a scent catalog or something lol. Good luck if you decide to get one.

I love the nude rose scent--and I was not a fan of roses anyway, after being cooped up in a room with a woman who doused herself in the tea rose scent that was the rage in the 80's---omg----made me dizzy and in need of fresh air---so I dumped my tea rose scent out and never wore anything with even a hint of rose. But I got a isample of the Nude rose in the body lotion from a make up box and wow, it was so nice. I will wait to buy as I have so much to use up.

Figuring I would be disappointed have not been tempted to try. I love Loccitane RoseToilette. They make shampoo, conditioner and body wash with lotion. If you have fragile hair the shampoo may be drying. I have oily hair. The scent is real rose not lab created artificial which to me is sickening.

@wagirl- I had the same experience in the 90's when I was a banker. There was an 85 year old lady that came into the bank once a week with a very over powering rose perfume. The entire bank smelled like her when she left and I ended up getting nauseated with that smell. Since then I could never tolerate a rose scent. Can you detect a rose smell with the Nude Rose? You said it was nice, but I'm curious to know if it smells like rose or not.

those strips only give you so much of an idea of a scent. I usually spray the strips for an immediate reaction - I hate it, it makes me cough, etc. If I find one I like, I spray it on myself and leave so I don't make any impulse fragrance buys, which often go badly for me. I let it sit and decide later how I feel because some fragrances turn on me and others give me a headache after about 10 minutes. I usually wait a few hours and buy the fragrance the next day if I still like it.

I made an exception for one I loved a lot. I sprayed Jo Malone Lime, Basil & Mandarin cologne on my wrist at a Nordstrom counter and then walked across the street for dinner. By the end of the meal, I was smitten and practically ran back to Nordstrom before closing so I could grab a bottle.

I have Ballet rose and nude rose and I like them. I am not big on rose scents ither.

The safe one is Pure Grace Nude Rose the other smells exactly like amazing grace with a hint of rose

i tried one of them - the one suggested for Pure Grace lovers. tooooooooo cloying. icky floral. if you like that pure clean approach the "roses" may not suit you.

SA girl--yes there is a scent to it but more like the true smell that roses used to smell like---I would NEVER buy any rose scent ever---I can sniff that smell a mile away but the true rose smell is very nice.
