do you use a primer? that has helped me a lot. I use a primer first, then I put on Laura Geller baked and balanced, and then I add Bye Bye Undereye by IT.

Even squeeze it in a towel so it's just damp. Typically, it's recommended that one uses 1-2 shades lighter in concealer than their foundation for the under eye area. I think 2 might be too much so I stick with 1 shade lighter for that under eye area. To your prepared skin, do your foundation first and blend it out with your beauty blender using a bouncing motion, going all over until everything looks good..

Next, take your concealer - start with a small amount and add more later, if you need to. Put your concealer on your ring finger and rub it with the opposite ring finger to warm it up for easier spreadability. Dot the concealer where you want it (triangle of light, if you're using that approach). Take the beauty blender again and work on blending the concealer. If you need to, you can "bake" it by overapplying a setting powder and letting it stay there for a few minutes before dusting the excess away.

As for the actual concealer I use, I have a couple - tried one from Younique, it works nicely for me, the new IT Cosmetics concealer in the pot - like it very much too, Maybelline Age Rewind - it's a little thinner than the others but it's OK for a drugstore product. I tend to use that one when I'm not going anywhere important or where my makeup has to last all day.

ETA - Forgive me, I made an assumption that you're already using a primer. If you aren't, try one. The Ordinary has a very inexpensive one that I like very much.

If your concealer feels tacky after application then it most likely will crease. Creasing has much to do with the texture of the concealer. Sometimes using a very small amount of setting powder will help and it also may be helpful to use a blotting paper after applying the concealer as well. Several factors come into play when getting the concealer to stay smooth. What goes on under it, for example moisturizers or primers, as well as what you apply on top or do to it after application may all affect the results.

I have horrible dark circles under my eyes. Without concealer, I look like I have 2 black eyes.

A few months ago I bought IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness Concealing Cream. It's in a jar and came with a brush. I absolutely love this stuff. I apply the concealer with the small end of the brush and then I swipe over it with the larger side of the brush. That helps with the finish and wipes off any excess.

OK, I can tell when when a fellow forum member needs to be rescued from the lifetime hunt for the perfect under eye concealer.

Two years ago, I watched every YouTube tutorial and review of undereye concealers. I read every discussion about this issue online.

Then I bought THIRTEEN different poducts and tried them. I have aging, super dry skin. Way too many products wrinkled and did not CONCEAL.

There are other steps that that must be added to the concealer regimen and certain types of moisturizer to avoid.

Here is what will work:

1. NARS CREAMY CONCEALER in the color Custard. This product never dries to leave lines or creases under the eyes. I mean never. This product provides great coverage and feels great on the skin. This product is very long lasting. This color works on a range of skin tones from light medium, to medium, to light olive, to medium olive and with tans. If you are extremely, extremely pale, it might work, but I can’t vouch for that.

2. To disguise darkness under the eye, NARS concealer should be mixed with a tiny bit of BECCA

BACKLIGHT TARGETED COLOR CORRECTOR IN THE COLOR PEACH. Careful, Becca makes another product that is similar to this. Be sure you get BACKLIGHT with the black jar top. This product will correct dark circles by canceling the appearance of dark undereyes. No dryness or creasing with this eith.

The technique:

1. Moisturize the undereye area very well. I use a couple drops of Nivea in the navy tub, followed by a couple drops of Lubriderm. I have the driest skin there could be. Other moisturizers will work, EXCEPT DON’T USE ANY THAT PLUMP. These will pull water under the skin and make you have bags in the under eye area. I often use a great Estée Lauder moisturizer that has this effect. It’s the Revitalizing Supreme. Great product for the rest of the face; just will ruin the effect of this procedure. Same with EL’s Resiliance Lift. I don’t remember what the effect of EL DAYWEAR was, sorry. The Revitalizing Supreme eye cream caused the same puffiness. I think the Resiliance Lift eye cream also caused the puffiness. Other moisturizers that I tried and were not as emollient included Cerave and a different lighter Nivea. There were many others. When you try to moisturizer, do only one eye. Then wait a while and compare eyes to see if you are well moisturized and the moisturizer causes no puffiness.

2. Avoid any primer under the eye. Primer often makes the concealers clip on the skin and they contribute to the creases or lines in the skin.

3. Using the back of your hand, put a couple drops of the NARS there and add a very, very small dot of the Peach Becca and mix there. You color should have a slight peach color. Dot a tiny bit under your eye and use a finger to blend on the skin. Your circles should disappear.

Some of the products that I tried that were not a hit:

MAC Studio Finish.

Honestly, I just gave up. Every concealer I tried caked, didn't cover well, accented my undereye area, etc. So I quit using concealer. Now I tap-tap-tap on my usual foundation under my eyes. Covers well enough (hey! I'm 69 and it is what it is), plus it blends well with my foundation, doesn't accent any wrinkles or 'blueness' under my eyes. For me, the less I use under my eyes, the better they look.

Won't work for everyone................

Is there a particular technique and product you use to achieve this?

@Glorimar I use a corrector first. It’s peach color & cancels out darkness before you conceal w/ product a shade lighter than foundation. To prevent creasing, I dip my concealer brush in argan oil (or one of your choice), dab it off first on tissue and then apply concealer. The oil further moisturizes the under eye area (sometimes eye cream not enough).

Let me me know if this works better for you.
