Can Someone Help Me ~ Mascara Removal

Ladies, I need some help. I have a Mascara that I LOVE. L'Oreal Lash Paradise. I have been using the Waterproof, and can't seem to get it all off. I know, just going back to the Regular will solve the problem... BUT, my emotions are all over the place. Lost my Dad a few months ago, and I never know when something will hit me, and here come the tears. So, could I please have some suggestions for a product that takes off the Waterproof stuff? Brand does not matter. Anything at the Drug Store would be fine. TIA ~ Mistic

You have my sympathies, @Mistic. My dad has been gone for 30 yrs. and I still have my days.

Have you ever tried Micellar Water? I've used the Simple Brand and the Garnier Brand. You can see how the micels are separated from the "water" when the bottle is undisturbed so you have to be sure to shake it prior to use. The micels are oil particles suspended in the water. Saturate a little cotton pad (thoroughly moistened, but not drippy) and hold it over your eye for a few seconds, to give the mascara a chance to soften, and then wipe to remove. It may take a couple of tries if you have a very thick coat or with waterproof mascara, but I've had very good luck with it.

Benefit They're Real mascara remover does a good job of removing mascaras cleanly.

If you want drugstore I'll also use old fashioned Noxzema. Does a good job but not as efficient.

I wear waterproof mascara also. L'oreal is my brand. The best remover I used was Estee Lauder but it's expensive. I now use Sepora brand that's just as good and you get more for less. You just have to make sure you shake it very well because it separates.

Be really careful with Noxema around your eyes, if you decide to try it. The label warning says to avoid direct contact. I think that even getting the vapors close would be irritating and make them water. Good luck.

I always used Johnson's baby oil to remove my waterproof mascara. However, I follow it with gentle cleanser & water to get rid of the oil. Benefit is I have no lines around my eyes. Robles, I must remember to remove my contact lenses first.

@Mistic Sorry for your loss, virtual hug to you. I use the waterproof lash paradise too and Bobbi brown longwear eye makeup remover does the trick. I also follow up with purity. The trick with the Bobbi brown is to saturate a cotton pad with the remover, press and hold against the lashes for a few seconds, give it time to work and you won't need to rub.

I have been using L'OREAL for quite a few years. The blue is similar to Lancome but

I use the green for waterproof and long wearing eye makeup. You can get it at Target or

Walmart and it's under $7.00.

@Mistic The best I have ever used is Almay waterproof makeup remover pads. I also have had good results using SKINN Makeup Removing Cleansing Cloths.

I use argan, olive or camellia oil...dabbed on the eye area with a cotton ball then gently wipe and cleanse afterwards with your regular stuff.

@Mistic So sorry for your loss of your Dad. I understand all too well your need for waterproof mascara. Because it is drying to the lashes, as well as more difficult to remove, an oil eye makeup remover is best. Slightly wet the cotton pad w/ warm water before putting on the oil. Press lightly against your eye for several seconds to let it dissolve the mascara before gently wiping it away. It’s better to do it twice if needed than scrub the 1st time.

As far as which product, even baby oil is gentle enough.

I use generic (cheap) baby oil then go over with a Neutrogena makeup wipe. If you don't like baby oil try Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm - works great too but it's pricey.

Simple has these little eye makeup remover pads that work well. Clinique has a formula --its kind of clear looking --- I belive its called Stay the Day --- just put some on a cotton pad and press ---no rubbing!

Clinique makeup remover is a top 2 for me.

I'm a big fan of Ocusoft Lidscrub. It's a foam and I got it from my ophthalmologist when I had a reaction to eye drops. It is soothing to the eye and helped heal my lids.

But the bonus is the incredible eye makeup removal. I use waterproof mascara and primer on my eye lids. This takes it all off easily with no rubbing at all.

I think the large bottle is $18 (I can't find it locally other than my eyedoctor who charges the same price as Amazon). It lasts forever because you only use a small squirt of foam for each eye.

@FranandZoe Yes. I thought the same thing. I wouldn’t recommend Vaseline, cold cream or any product that’s not somewhat water soluble. It can go to the back of your eye and accumulate there.
