Oil slick faces

What's the deal with the shiny/glowy faces? I watched the country music award show sunday night and all the women had shiny faces. Now Laura Gellar makeup is like this. I know some may like this look and thats ok. This probably will be removed. This is not attractive.

I agree with you, it's not an attractive "glow".... it looks like they've all run a mile and didn't wipe the sweat off....

I agree--that very lovely older blond lady, looked awful in all that glowy, shiny stuff. The other model with the darker hair looked better. Altho not a fan of that look on anyone really.

Strategic glow okay, but not all over like I saw on a portion of a LG presentation today.

After years of "powdering my nose", I can't adjust to the idea that I'm supposed to look greasy. I hope this trend fades quickly.

my skin is already OILY so I am looking for matte cause I'm naturally gonna be an "OIL SLICK" by mid morning.

I think I'm in the minority here, but I prefer a shiny look for myself. I'd even take too much "glow" than matte. I agree that the shiny look is being a little overdone in some cases, but it's the style now I guess.

I know why I like it. When I don't use products that produce a (fake) glow, my skin looks dry and I really look a lot older. This is just my opinion, but it's the way I feel. If I apply the "glow" by whatever means (sometimes luminizers and sometimes I actually pat a facial oil onto my skin, very lightly), I feel I look better. I try to remind myself I don't want to end up looking like the Tin Man, so I try to control my application.

Obviously thats not real life - it’s for tv so very overdone. In real life a nice subtle glow can be flattering.

I've always avoided the T-zone when applying any kind of highlighters or glow-products. I think as I get older this seems to make me look oily, not glowy, not to mention making me look older with wrinkles that get exaggerated. I much prefer highlighting upper cheeks and that's about it.

I wear highlighter everyday on my cheek bones, my Cupid’s bow and a little on the bridge of my nose. I am not 20 and I don’t highlight like the 20 year olds, but I do like a subtle glow. I think with HD TV and the continual presentations that the models do look over the top at times.

I think it’s personal preference also. People who are dry want a glow and people who are oily want to be matte. I think the younger girls really overdue the highlighter at times.

I haven't watched what you saw but I know what you mean and don't get the shiny face look either. It just looks greasy to me not healthy and glowy!

When I was younger I had oily skin and hated when my face got shiny...I couldn't wait to fix it by either adding more powder or just washing it. Now my skin is less oily and I sure don't want to go back to the shiny face look again! It's not attractive and it emphasizes large pores.

I like a little on my cheeks to help balance out natural shine I have, but I don't care for the overdone highlighter either. Unfortunately many of us are attracted to pretty sparkles, even if they don't look good on us, I don't think the trend will ever ease up.

I saw an LG presentation on her Ethereal Primer yesterday and thought "Yikes! who wants to shine like that?!?" But, the good thing is, you certainly wouldn't need a flashlight -- your face would light up a dark room.

I've battled with a greasy, oily complexion since I was a teenager. That kind of shiny glow doesn't appeal to me -- but I understand that some ladies might want a little illumination. That face primer seemed to be over the top.

Moderation or a light hand is the key, right? A little glow is nice, but I'm not into the extra shiny look either.

@San Antonio Gal I agree with you! Just a little highlighter (I like LG's French Vanilla--it's the most subtle of glows) can really perk up my tired old face. I put a little on my cheekbones, a bit down my nose, and a little on my chin...not shiney at all!

Like others, since puberty hit I spent mega-bucks trying to get rid of that look and only wished that various acne/oil product lines had been around when I needed them.

I didn't see the show, but I agree ..... Not attractive doesn't begin to cover it.

If you're wearing a liquid foundation makeup, you need to SET IT with a translucent setting powder ... or something like that. If not, if you hug someone, your makeup smears all over them! If you perspire, the makeup can actually slide down your face! ugh

Years ago I saw a fully made up woman accidentally walk into a sliding glass door. She had neglected to powder her makeup and it looked really awful ..... and where her face had hit the glass door there was a huge smear of makeup, lipstick etc ..... and her makeup was smeared all over her face!

I don't know what "clever" person came up with this idea, but it looks like the woman doesn't know the basics of makeup application. JMO

@Tinkrbl44, poor woman. I think that her smear on the glass was the least of her problems.

ETA: Of course, I am biased, having walked full bore into a store's glass window in Paris. I am darn lucky not to have broken my nose.

There is a vast difference between a dewy, radiant complexion and the Tin Man look a lot of the models had from the TSV.
