Lol, is that really the name of the product? Fake Bake is usually a derogatory reference to bad self tanners.

Have you tried TanTowels?

Is that real name? I call them all Fakeandbake products. I will NEVER use one, never. Not even if someone paid me. I don't want people laughing and rolling their eyes at me the way I do when when I see a fakeandbake victim.

That is what its called. I heard tan towels can be drying. I may try Self Tropez .

I use TanTowels and I don't find them drying. Have you tried Josie’s self tanner with Argan? I tried several different products including St Tropez, but TT works the best for me. Very natural.

I have never tried Fake Bake but I have used Tan Towels for many years and they have never make my skin dry. They have a built in moisturizer. IMO they produce the most natural looking tan.

My choir director's wife recommended Fake Bake to me. She knows I have an issue with farmer tan. However, I thought Fake Bake was a temporary product, not a self tanner.

Dang, you just missed the TanTowels HSN Today Special last week.

They offer 2 options - classic or plus. I like the plus-it's not too deep. With classic I have to do it multiple times to get a decent color, it's light..

@Chi-town girl Quick question, I don't use tanner on my face (I just use brozing powder so it matches my body)

How do I know which set I need, will a half body work on your whole body normally or what do they mean by half body? Like arms only?

Can you help me decide?

@SandGirl - you might be able to get alot of use from this $20 kit.

I love the spray mist bc you can reuse the towels a couple of times. The half towel could def cover full body. I keep the used towel in a sealed baggie, then spray it with the mist to use it

Hi Ladies. I've been reading this thread, and I have a question too @Chi-town girl, if you wouldn't mind. You mentioned that the tan towels are not drying, but is it ok to use a regular moisturizing lotion in addition to the tan towel? Or would using a lotion on legs and arms interfere with the tanning process? (Obviously, I wouldn't use both at the exact same time.) Also, if using the tan towels on your face, is it ok to still use facial moisturizer? Thanks for any additional advice/input you can provide!

Hey @Citrine1 - I'm happy to answer questions.

Yes, you can use you body lotions but wait till next day. The recommendation for all self tanners is to apply at night. That gives the time for your tan to develop.

A few more suggestions:

Get a good body exfoliator product and a loofa. Before tanning do a good exfoliation treatment. Extra attention to elbows, knees, ankles & feet. Shave or wax/remove hair
After shower, do not use any body oils or lotions. Apply the tanning product. Wait a few minutes to dry before going to bed or putting on clothes
Next day, if you want a deeper tone. Repeat process, but no exfoliation. If you are good with the color, you can use your regular body lotion.
Don't do a body exfoliation again until you are ready to reapply tantowel.

To prevent the dark ankles/feet/knees/elbows - after applying tantowel all over, take some body lotion, not alot, and apply it to ankles/feet/elbows. It will dulute the tan abit in those areas.

It's simple and my tan will last a couple of weeks.

One more Question - St Tropez foam when I use that and it starts to wear off its just like a real tan it just starts to go away, I've used tanners in the past that start to get blotchy as it wears off, does Tan Towels do that?

Tried Fake Bake many years ago because I needed something other than Tan Towels which dried me out. The color was nice but it did not last on me.

@SandGirl - yes, it just fades but if you see uneven tone, just use an exfoliator

I use the Plus tone instead of Classic. Good color and it lasts about 2 weeks
