MICELLAR WATER

I noticed in the last 2 days, both IT Cosmetics and Philosophy introduced Micellar water as a cleanser. It’s been used in Europe forever.

The next big trend here? Do you use it and/or what are your thoughts?

@Shanus I was tempted by the IT new water product the other night when it was a One Day Only. I am not sure why I need this, that is why I didnt purchase. It is being used as a cleanser. I already use a wipe and then a cleanser, so whould it replace one of these products?

@Shanus and @MrsCat21 ... I use the Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water. I do like it for removing makeup but follow with a facial cleanser It costs about $9.00 at CVS...even less on Amazon. Much cheaper than the one sold on QVC.

@MrsCat21 In Europe, it’s considered an “essence”....an additional moisturizing step before applying skincare. I was taught, however, to apply my serum to dry skin after cleansing & then follow w/ moisturizer and spf.

I’m not sold on the idea of an extra step added to the routine.

@Boehm Collector. Can you explain, hopefully, its purpose if you are following with a facial cleanser anyway?

Micellar water cleanser/wipes have been here for at least 2 years not new and they are nice to clean with and take of makeup

not sure the higher price of IT and Philos is needed for this product

I picked up Philosophy cleanser at Ulta about month ago and the package included micellar water. I wanted to try it. I don’t know or feel the benefits so I’ll use it up and not purchase anymore.

@Shanus .. i think it does a great job at gently removing all makeup, even waterproof mascara, better than just a facial cleanser alone. I saturate a cotton round and wipe all the makeup off.

@Shanus- Yes, it seems those two are jumping on the bandwagon, doesn't it? I believe in removing makeup before cleansing at night. A facial cloth is handy to grab, and there are some made with micellar water. I've been a facial cloth user (Skinn or Beekman) to remove makeup for a long time but was curious to try micellar water on cotton rounds a number of months ago (I think it might have been @chrystaltreewho recommended it). I like it and find that it does a very thorough job for makeup removal, it really gets everything - even waterproof mascara. This morning I was sorting through my eyeshadows and lipsticks, swatching them on my hand and lips, deciding what to keep and what to pitch. I had a stack of cotton pads and my bottle of micellar water to clean in between. I've used the Simple brand and it was fine. Now I'm using Garnier. No special reason why I chose either other than each one was probably on sale when I was shopping.

Like you and others, I don’t want to add another step to my routine. Anyway I seriously didn’t see anything or feel anything like toner. I use Clinique toner and the micellar water felt like tap water. The only reason I tried it is because it’s included with the philosophy cleanser and that’s part of my routine.

I was iffy about the Micellar water. When Avon came out with it, I bought a bottle. I like it but not in place of my regular cleansing routine. In the morning I use the Anew cleanser. I used the micellar water at night.

I purchased Bioderma micellar water when Beautylish first offered it and then a drugstore brand. I think it was Simple brand. I do not currently use either. I think this is good if you are camping or somewhere without running water. It is really not necessary for me at home. I used a lot of cotton pads with micellar water and would rather toss a wascloth in the washing machine with my towels.

I use La Roche Posay micellar water for sensitive skin as my cleanser, and it's all I use. Walgreen's has it buy one get one half off very often and it lasts a long time.

It gets all my makeup, no matter how much I have on, off my skin easily and in the morning it leaves my skin really clean.

But the first time I used it.... IT MADE MY SKIN BURN. I immedietly stopped using it and the bottle has sat in my bathroom cupboard ever since... I will throw it away today after writing this.

I wonder if anyone else had this reaction to it?

@SeaMaidenThis has never happened to me. In fact, there was no feeling of any kind other than dampness.

I've tried it and wasn't terribly impessed. It took more effort to remove my makeup than an oil cleanser. I mostly used it the same way I use makeup wipes - as a quick way to get everything off when I'm tired or sick and just don't have the eneregy for more. I did not repurchase.

I currently use the Garnier Blue Cap micellar water to remove my waterproof eye make up...its a biphase and has to be shaken up but it does a wonderful job removing my cement like, waterproof eye makeup... I no longer buy more expensive makeup removers.

I also use either Simple's hydro boost water or Bioderma for my morning cleanse. I tried the It Cosmetics one but found it to be no better than the Garnier or Simple Hydro Boost waters.

Note: I did not like Simple's first micellar water... the one I like and use is the new Hydro Boost... larger bottle and better product.

So, I find these to be a great addition to my routine. Great product at a reasonable cost. I have not tried any others.

I have very sensitive, combo skin.
