It's time. I have never believed - or found- topicals to reverse aging. I take great care of my skin but me eyelids are really drooping. 3 excellent surgeons in my area- all board certified and referred by my eye doctor. I have learned eye lid surgery is done under local anesthesia w ith a mild sedative. GREAT! No general anesthesia!

Yes, Unfortunally, our eyes do droop do to age and our inherited genes.

My sister had her eyes done, paid by her insurance company because it affected her vision.

A couple of years later, gravity did another job on her. Her eyes are droopy again. The surgery improves your looks and helps your sight, but it doesn’t seem to be permanent.

Good luck. I hope you achieve great results.

I am also interested in getting my eyes done too, but still thinking about it. I would like my under eyes done too.

My sil talked about having this done and I thought, pffft, she just wants to look younger. But she told me her insurance has agreed to cover it because it’s negatively affecting her vision.

Anyway, that was a while back. Now I can completely understand it. I’m starting to realize I will probably be needing this procedure in the future. But I’ll wait until it’s covered. I just can notice that my eyes are changing faster now that I’m post-menopausal.

So, I’m going to follow this thread with interest. @ellaphant, please keep us posted as you go through this.

I had it done five years ago as well as an upper forhead lift. This was all approved by my insurance company as I was drooping bad. Once healed it did look nice and the drooping was gone but....... for me, my eyes have become EXTREMELY dry and I do mean extremely. I am currently using restasis for this and my eye dr has recommended trying tubes in my eyes but Im not to keen on that. At the point, I do have some drooping starting again but nothing like it was. I say its a good thing to do if it is bothering your vision but make sure you ask your dr about it possibly causing a dry eye problem due to the fact that they don't close as much as they used to.

BEckyblu

I think I would be very surprised if all the PS said they will do this under local. That means they are doing a simple crescent lift using a scalpel not a laser technique. That is fine if you want a very basic result. A simple crescent lift is what my PS would do for insurance purposes. Sometimes for better result there needs to be fat removed; it bulges out and comes from tissue inside the orbital area. A good PS should have many many befores/afters to show you. Ideally the best PS is a Board Certified Oculoplastic Surgeon. A good doctor will evaluate the complete eye and surrounding tissue and contour appropriately, not simply excise loose skin. Do a bit of research...good luck!

My husband had an upper eyelid lift about 3.5 years ago in the summer. I went with him to the hospital where his occular plastic surgeon did his eyelift under a local anethesia. My husband had overhanging lids that affected his peripheal vision so it was covered under insurance. He was out of the hospital in about 45 minutes from the time he went into the operating room. I had to drive him home since of course his eyelids were swollen. Bring cold compresses with you and leave them in a cooler bag in your car since you will need them when you get driven home, it's best to put them on right away if you have a long drive so you can minimize swelling and black eyes.

This past summer I used the same doctor to have a small growth removed from my inner corner of my right upper eyelid near the tear duct. The growth was benign but obvious since it was white in color and I got tired of disguising it with makeup. Since I sort of knew what to expect I wasn't worried. It was done in the hospital under a local anethesia and was fairly quick too. My husband drove me home as my eye was bandaged and I put a cold compress on my face on the drive home. I didn't get a black eye. I had to apply a topical antibiotic on the area and I would say that it healed really well and you can't tell that I had a growth removed. I only wish I had done it sooner!

I would like to have my eyelids done at some point as my left eyelid is droopy while my right one isn't but I know that it's not covered under insurance since I have no vision impairment from my eyelids. I have full confidence in the doctor that did both my husband and my surgeries so I would definitely get my eyelids done in the future!

@KalliI hear ya post meno seems to make everything dry and droop..major

UGH!!!!

I will as a few girlfriends had 'eye jobs" and it helped a lot..less heavy look but one really didn't need it. I know I will. Barely a scar and no general anesthesia. Many times they also tighten skin below if you have some fat taken off there or rearranged and use a laser or something.. she was a mess for 2 weeks or less but looks great now at 60.5., had it 4 years ago or so...out of pocket. Not medically necessary I'm scared to do it! But see the sides of my eyes and crepey lids ruing my once pretty eyes (insert crybaby here)

You may want to check on that.
