I started epilating almost two years ago and I have loved it. It was the answer to my problem. My leg hair is more dense and bristly than a wire brush, it’s awful, I can’t stand it myself. I have to shave every other day because it’s so prickly.

Epilating helped a lot because I was without hair for longer time and the regrowth was softer and less prickly than shaving.

BUT now, over time the ingrown hair bumps have increased horribly- I tried everything, including wet and dry exfoliating, but my hair is curly, and the ingrown hairs get worse over time. I have bumps and boils, it’s not pretty.

So I’m going back to shaving. 😭 I cant win this war on leg hair, I surrender. I guess there are worse problems... Has anyone else seen this with epilating?

I haven't had a problem but have you tried Tend Skin? It reduces ingrown hairs. That might do the trick.

@Skyegirl21 That is a problem. For those of us who epilate, the thought of shaving is sheer horror! Have you tried a warm bath with epsom salts, then epilating? That's the method I use. The epsom salts are soothing and also seem to exfoliate. I've never done a seperate exfoliatiation and I've been epilating for years and years. Perhaps you are irritating your skin? Hope this suggestions helps.

I follow up with Philosophy's Amazing Grace Firming Body Emulsion Lotion. These 69-year old legs always look attractive and I haven't worried about hairy legs in a over 15 years - maybe longer! Best wishes.

I have been epilating my upper lip and was having problems with ingrown hair which created bumps and redness and thought I too would have to give up epilating... A couple of weeks ago I found this product on Amazon and the reviews were pretty amazing so I thought why not give it a try. Oh my goodness, I am so glad I ordered it.. it is called Kerah Lane Organice Razor, Bump and Ingrown Hair formula. It is all natural and a serum which I apply a thin layer after I epilate and it dries quickly. So far, so good as no bumps or ingrown hairs since I started using !! Great customer service also ! for use on legs, etc

I tried epilating on my face- not good. I ended put seeing a dermatologist and she told me to stop epilating. I now use the Tria all over and have no ingrown hairs, bumps etc. Pricey system but great results.

I use to epilate my bikini area. Then the ingrowns started getting bad. I started using Neosporin right after epilating my bikini area and it took care of that problem. I finally had all of my body hair lasered away. Just tired of all the shaving and epilating, not to mention ingrowns. I had my facial hair lasered away, too, but the peach fuzz is still here. I just use an electric shaver for that because I tried to epilate them and got ingrown hairs...not good.

When epilating a very long time ago I had the same experience. The ingrown hair situation with the bumps and inflamation was worse looking than the hair. And painful too. I had to stop as well. Shaving is, at least, pretty quick for me and should be as I've been doing it for many years..
