I had awful brows I started going to a lady in my salon, which she arch ,dyed my brows

I can't go every month like I should, cause I'm on S S, but there is a big difference now,I had one brow that was almost non-existence from white hairs . This was best thing love done for my face to look younger last time I went i splurge and dyed my eye lashes

and WOW so much better than any makeup covered up my gray lashes, really did make

a difference worth every penny

Drastically Uneven Brows

Wondering if anyone else has this issue and how you handle it.

Like many, my brows are not anywhere approaching any sort of symmetry. One brow is a good half inch lower than the other. The higher brow has a very slight natural arch and the lower brow is a straight line :-( The brows are also sparse and thin with wild white hairs here and there.

It’s the height difference that looks really bad to my eyes when I look in the mirror. It looks like a blind 90 year old did it and just drew wherever.

I’ve considered different things - microblading, stencils, etc. but don’t think those things would solve my problem very well.

I note that Benefit Cosmetics has a “brow bar” and will “map” them and shape them for you so you can handle them going forward. Has anyone done this? Did you think it helped? I’m wondering how they “manage” brows with a noticeable height difference, one completely without an arch.

Any thoughts?

My thought is, it’s going to be so far off the shape of my natural brow that what do you do about what is outside the stencil? It could look like you have two sets of brows ;-( This is where I need guidance from a pro.

I went into Ulta for brow help once and they were very UNhelpful. But you can set up appts (I think) with the Benefits rep at Ulta, Sephora or Macy’s and that’s what I will likely do. When I went into Ulta before I just wandered in and everyone was “sorry” but they “couldn’t” help me. I suspect I’ll try Macy’s. I tend to have a bad attitude about Ulta not just because of that, but other times not being helped either. They’re not as professional as Sephora.

Permanent makeup (brows, liner, lips) is done with equipment much like an actual tattoo gun, or a microblade. This comes the closest to what I want, and if money was no object on a continuing basis I’d do it in a heartbeat.

But “permanent” as far as microblading is maybe 18-24 months, which means I’d be spending up to $700-$800 up front and almost that much every 18-24 months. If it lasted 5 years it’s worth that amount to me, but for just barely 2 years that’s a lot of money to keep spending.

Yes, it can be done cheaper, but it will look like it was done cheaper. And I have sparse hair and light skin. Whenever I get henna tattoos on my hands, instead of the normal 7-10 days mine last 3 days if I’m lucky. It would last longer on someone with thick dark brows and medium to darker skin tone, but that’s not me.

I pretty much have no brows anymore, so have to draw them in every morning with a wax crayon and brow powder. Works pretty well. I have never been to a Benefit brow counter at Macy's, but if I were you, I would go for it and give it a try. It won't hurt to try and maybe they can give you some helpful tips. Good luck!

There may be a small charge for the “styling”, but then again it too might be free if I purchase some of their brow products - which I’m thinking I will anyway. And the brow products are very reasonable prices, most of them.

Yours probably isn't half as bad at what we saw at the store the other day. We couldn't take our eyes off a woman going past us, in the other direction. Her eyebrows made her look so mad, that we couldn't believe it.

Can an eyebrow pencil help you? This woman that we saw, needed some help. I'd bet she's nice, but the eyebrows you could not take your eyes off of.

I much prefer a tidy, natural and neutral look, no bold statements for me - but I do need something.

@Moonchilde, I would most definitely go to a person or a place that specializes in just brows. There are tons of salons that do waxing and threading in addition to cuts, color, etc... but if you want some serious and expert attention to your brows, you want someone who deals ONLY in brows.

I would first start by googling best eyebrow shaping with your town and state. You should be able to look at the reviews. YOu not only want good reviews but a lot of them. Not just one or two 5 star reviews but ten or more.

I would go to the brow bar you mentioned and tell them your concerns and ask them what they would do. I really think you should "interview" the person for the job and make sure you like what you hear. In addition to waxing and shaping your brows you need to let them know you want to know how to fill them in daily with powder/gel/pencil yourself and if you feel you cannot do it, ask them to show you.
