Come over to the Wen forum, which is in the drop down menu under " my favorite brand".

Advice? Use enough cleansing conditioner, once you distribute it add a few splashes of water and then massage in, if your hair is long a wide tooth comb is good for making sure you get all the way down to the roots. Cleanse twice. The first one removes most of the dirt and oils from your hair and the second time is like the conditioning step but also allows residual dirt to be removed. Rinse really well.

Suggest doing first cleanse as the first thing you do in the shower, immediately followed by second cleanse without rinsing. Do whatever else you need to do while you have the second cleanse in your hair to maximize conditioning/treatment benefits and then rinse at the end of your shower

I recommend the matrix cleansing conditioners. A little cheaper also. Nothing wrong with wen. I personally have a sensitivity to some formulas. I tried every CC pretty much and I love Matrix and Hair Food. Pantene cowash is good too. Its sold in the afro american hair care area but good for all hair types

This isn't to discourage any WEN purchase, just to point out in the presentations, Chaz often makes a big deal that the WEN models do not wash their hair every day. Some even go as much as 1 week. So, naturally, with fewer washings, hair color will last longer.

It's the new growth where he colors, which he says in the presentations. Before, during and after WEN, (as I no longer use it) that's all I ever have to color.

Also, it's not just the "shampoo-conditioner," but his hair system, which also calls for the oils. Oils also helps to preserve color.

Great point @Harpa

I was my hair anywhere from 3-5x a week depending on the weather, what I'm doing (gym) and social events.

If I'm working from home a lot, like I have been since Thanksgiving, I don't need to wash as much because I don't leave the house as much. But it looks good just the same when I go the mailbox ;o)

@pattypeep wrote:

I just purchased a 16 oz bottle of shampoo/conditioner and will be trying it for the first time. The only reason being is that I want to see if it truly holds my salon color longer. Any tips for a first time Wen user? TIA

@pattypeep

I have highlighter combed through about once every 4 months. They stay shiny and true to color. I use WEN CC exclusively on my hair.

I wash with WEN the night before and take WEN to the salon with me. I always use 613 for this, but you can certainly use any of the CCs.

Tips ~ rinse well, eventually you will be able to adjust the # of pumps you use, I use about 1/2 of Chaz’s recommendations, as far as leave in CC I use an amount about the size of a pea, rub it between my palms and just use my fingers to comb it through my soaking wet hair while in the shower, I don’t put the leave in on my scalp.

Please post any questions on th WEN forum, a very nice, well informed group of WEN users there!

Welcome!
