BOTOX...yep!

I did it!

Actually I just went for a second time about 2 weeks ago.

I met a plastic surgeon and he said the earlier one starts the better so where I went to get facials and peels I asked them to give me some but the lady would not, she said I didn't need it. That was 2 or 3 years ago.

Where I go now they didn't argue with me about it LOL, must be that now I need it!

So for now I just do the minimum, between the brows and squint lines but I have to say, it does not make a whole lot of difference that I can see but I can feel it especially after the second time.

For those who are curious, it feels like when you go to the dentist and he numbs you. Just that it's on the forehead and much milder feeling.

The needle hurt a little, got to be honest.

I'm going to continue, don't see why not.

If you're thinking about it I can say that there is nothing to be afraid of, especially if you go really light at first you can always increase if you like it.

Me, either. I believe in topicals, et. al., especially when there is not much to correct. But I don't want any injections, either. I would rather build my collagen from the inside out. (All this inasmuch as possible. And if not, all is still well.)

Thanks for telling your experiences. I always think I am in the minority when it comes to cosmetic procedures. I haven't read too much about them, so all my "knowledge" comes from those here who write about them.

I'm glad that you are pleased with Botox. I would continue to get it, if I didn't get the "heavy brow" result every time. I've gotten Botox 3 times and each time it is perfect after about 4 days, then when the nerve that allows me to lift my eyebrows becomes paralyzed, I get that ugly, heavy brow. I've tried three different doctors and have gotten the same negative result every time, I've decided that I'm just not a good candidate for Botox. For those who get great results, go for it.

If I had the money to spend I'd like to do some fillers and botox. Stress and age have taken a toll. I would like to feel better about how I look and give myself a much needed boost. There's nothing wrong with that, nor is it ungraceful in my opinion.

I'd want to do enough to look significantly better, but not so much that I would look unnatural/freakish.

Do you believe that you are standing on some kind of moral high ground simply because you have decided to embrace the lines on your face? I don't happen to believe your definition of "aging gracefully" or don't think there is only your way of doing it.

There is a reason that procedures such as Botox are popular.

Yes, one can go overboard and I understand fear of needles or of things going wrong but by the vast majority, people are happy with the results.

@Trudey, oooh sorry about your experience! Every face is different I suppose. When I got it they told me about different looks that I could get and one was lifting eyebrows but I don't want that, I like my eyebrows straight and not arched so I declined. To get that I think they do like a V, with the point starting in the middle of forehead and going out towards hairline.

They did mention that they don't inject straight across, above brows because there was danger of brows falling or even eyelids drooping yikes!

At least, it's gone in 3 months if it's bad.

@Greeneyedlady21, Try downloading the LivingSocial or Groupon apps. You'll find good deals there, I like LivingSocial better.

You can search by type of service you are looking for like Beauty Services for example and it will show you places in your zip code or location.

The businesses are aware of the effect of reviews.

You can get REALLY good deals and a good way to start.

I'm thinking of trying it for waxing. I'm not new to it but willing to try new places and get good deals

@Plaid Pants2, I don't know if you are crazy as I don't know you but I know that I am not, Botox and all.

Do you eat sugar? Bacon? Is your meat or milk hormone free? White bread? Margarine? Fried foods and snacks? Cakes, cookies? Fast food? Velveeta? etc...etc...etc

People who eat these things are not crazy but they are eating poison.

For anyone that takes asprin or tends to bruise easy, Arnica oil on the brusies or Arnica tablets two days before you get the work done. Works wonders.

I replied to your post above and it disappeared. So again you are right it does not hurt. I went Tues. had botox on 11 lines, crows feet, upper and lower lips.and forehead. I have been doing it since 2012. Never had a problem with eyebrows or anything.

I then had Restilyn on bags under eyes and parenthsis around mouth, Restilyn Silk around upper and lower lips. An RN does it at the Plastic Surgeon's office. I have my once a year tune up. I now do botox every 7 to 9 months.

My skin is very good, thanks to Dr. Denese, Perricone and PTR. Retinol. Even the nurse said what beautiful skin. I get compliments at least once a day on my skin from someone. The creams are good for the skin, but do not take away wrinkles. I never had deep wrinkles.

Also I wait until the office has their twice a year sale which helps a lot. The other thing is when you get botox, the office or you can go online to Brilliant Distinctions and get reward coupons. Same for Juviderm. If you use Dysport and Restilyn, then you get points from Aspire. The office lets you use both mix and match. Be sure to ask about your points. If you are going to continue, it adds up. Sometime I have 150 dollars worth of points in the year.

I am vain, before i get critized i will put that out there. I also work out doing zumba and weight lifting and eat right for my body. You can't exercise the face to see results. I am doing it for me. I am 81 and very active. l will still die someday, but the mortician will not have to do much. Joke.

This might not be for everyone, but for those of us that can do it and like the results to each their own. I know i do not look freakish as one poster said, she didn't want to look freakish. I also do it for me and no one else. and the best part is no one knows, it looks natural because it is not over done. Now please be kind in your responses for those that are against it.

It's great that you love the results and it works for you! I would love to have it done (fillers as well) but due to auto-immune issues, I am no longer a candidate. Instead, I'm the Queen of topical tighteners, line reducers, etc. So far, so good but down the road....yeah.

Do what makes you feel great (and look great)!! : )

To the OP: so glad you had a good experience! I have Dysport injections, as Botox literally wears off on me in a few days. Also have had fillers. It's a personal decision that seems to bring out the claws on some of the women on this board. I would be nice if we could all respect each other's decisions, or at least live and let live.

I would like to try fillers but the results seem to be so unpredictable and unnatural looking. Maybe fillers require a different set of artistic skills.

You definitely need someone with a license, not at someone,s home party. An RN that has been doing it for awhile in the plastic surgeons office or the Dr.

Most give free consultations. They will help you will questions and st you know the procedure .

If it is a real bargain, or the person. Is new, I wouldn't, have them. I have always gone by referrals. Mine was my daughter. My neighbor was me. The office I go to in NORTHERN CA. HAS won best in Sonoma county and best Dr.

I go to another office and nurse for my eyebrow tattoos. Although it has lasted 10 years.. My eyebrows are naturally arched, just lost hair as I aged.

OP did not post this thread asking anyone’s opinion on whether she should or should not do Botox. She just did and simply shared her experience, obviously was excited and happy about it.

Her post was NOT a signal to start putting her down. I myself have not done Botox and not even considering it, but this was not about me, it was OP’s experience shared on the BB. Thank you OP!

By definition this post meant to be for those people, who may be considering the procedure. Gosh people, please read the opening post and try to discern what's being said, and what it is about.

Ladies be kinder to each other. At least around the high holidays time.

It was mentioned to me too about Arnica cream in case of a bruise but I didn't bruise.

I have not had fillers, I might consider them in the future but I am a bit more hesitant because the effects last longer but I'm glad you like them and congrats on taking such good care of yourself, I wish to be like you at your age!

@SahmIam, there is a lot of good in topicals if you know what to look for and glad they're working for you. In the future, there will be exiting new technology so something to look forward to
