I am 70 years old and no wrinkles but very rosy complexion. I need a foundation that is easy to apply and looks natural but helps with the redness. I think a lot of liquid foundations look cakey and don't spread very well and many powder foundations don't cover the redness or look fake. Help...any suggestions??

I use Olay CC Total Effects and find it gives me enough coverage yet looks natural. I also like Neutrogena tinted moisturizer. Sometimes I mix the 2 in the palm of my hand and then apply. Using a primer first may also help with application. It can take a few tries before finding the right CC because the shades are more limited than traditional foundations.

I also like Hourglass Seamless Foundation Stick. Recently I tried Laura Mercer Silk Creme Moisturizing Foundation and also like that. If you are looking for one that is sold on QVC, I also like Kristofer Buckle. It's very creamy and wears well plus has a built in primer. Can you tell I am a foundation junkie? Oh I also like Guerlain Lingerie de Peau. Comes in a wide range of shades too.

It depends on what type of coverage you're looking for in a foundation. I also would recommend Bobbi Brown stick foundation. I would also recommend Bare Minerals Bare Pro foundation, but this is a more full coverage foundation. If you're looking for a CC cream, the Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue is fantastic. Ulta has the Bare Minerals foundation on half price today I believe.

My current favorite foundation is L'Oreal Infallible Pro Matte foundation. It goes on so easy with a foundation brush and you only need a little to cover everything. It sets beautifully and needs no powder. It lasts all day with no touch-ups. I've tried many more-expensive foundations, but this is my favorite. My second favorite is Urban Decay All Nighter foundation.

I don't have a foundation that I stick with, since I love trying new products. But I am very impressed by Revlon's Colorstay liquid foundation. Applying with a beauty blender (or real technique sponge), my skin looks flawless. It does not look cakey. I also agreeing with @Trudey that the Loreal Infallible is excellent, too. But I think the key is use a beauty blender type of sponge to apply.

I recently started using Wander stick foundation and I love it. It covers everything including broken capillaries, sun damage, etc, but it doesn’t look like foundation like products with talc do. I’ve used it cc foundation and it didn’t have good coverage for me and it was very yellow. I would also recommend philosophy miracle worker liquid foundation and Doll 10 HydraBalm stick. I have fair/medium skin tone and use light amd #5 in philosophy.

I have to say that I like all three, but I’m happier with the way Wander looks more like skin and not like I’m wearing foundation, but it’s full coverage. It’s worth the money.

Good luck!

I think a lot of liquid foundations look cakey and don't spread very well and many powder foundations don't cover the redness or look fake. Help...any suggestions??

@Mollie I’m 69 with good skin as well. Although quite fair, I do have some slightly red areas. I wear a yellow based foundation....either Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick or IT CC Cream. Sometimes I just wear a Tinted Moisturizer and touch up the more red areas w/ concealer.

I’ve found that the more foundation I use, the worse my skin looks...like you, it can get cakey. What helps is lightly dipping my makeup brush in my moisturizer before spreading the foundation. It thins it out and helps it look smoother.
