Excited...Treating Myself to a New Good Perfume

I have officially quit smoking and was trying to think of something to reward myself with that I normally would not buy. It hit me today, a nice bottle of really good perfume. I usually don't spend much on perfume because I figure I just smell like a smoke stack or trying to cover up one. So excited. Not sure which one yet. Need to get out there and test in person. I tend to prefer clean fresh airy scents. Loved Amazing Grace but that changed. This will be fun looking for something new.

Congratulations on quitting smoking. Must have been so hard to do. I have never smoked. Yet if somebody told me I couldn’t have chocolate for the rest of my life I don’t think I could do it. So I know what it must be like for you not to have that cigarette. Continued success and buy yourself the most beautiful bottle of perfume. You deserve it!

You might enjoy browsing fragrantica.com. You can even search for perfumes by the notes you like or by your preferred groups/types of scent. Also, it is the best place to read reviews.

CONGRATULATIONS ... and what a great idea!

Stop at a couple high end dept stores and find their fragrance wizard. Tell her your story and are looking for a "signature fragrance" and let her make some suggestions .... I'd be willing to bet she'll give you a handful of samples, so please take your time, and don't make a decision that day (heh heh heh).

Congrats to you! @luvdoodles I used to be a smoker years ago and when I quit I noticed a big improvement in my sense of smell and taste. I hope you find something you love.

Congrats on quitting, how awesome!! A new scent is the perfect reward. I agree with other posters, go to a high end department store and let the salesperson know what you like and sample several scents.

I quit YEARS ago and every week I used to put money aside for the smokes I would have purchased. Eventually I saved enough money to buy a gorgeous 14K Rainbow Tennis Bracelet.

I call it the bracelet Phillip Morris gave me. Enjoy and treat yourself regularly!

Congrats on quitting smoking @luvdoodles. Go to a cosmetic counter and sample a few on different areas of your arms and then walk around for several hours with them on and see how long each one lasted and how they smell after the dry off.

I am fond of floral scents.

If you have a Sephora nearby, you can test and then ask for complimentary samples to take home. That way, you can make sure that it's something you want to buy.

Congratulations!!! I recommend something from Jo Malone. They are the most beautiful and unique fragrances I've ever smelled and so long-lasting!! Also, they never smell like alcohol to me, which is so common with so many fragrances. Enjoy!

Congratulations! You deserve to treat yourself!

You may want to do what I've been doing and that's picking up the sets from different perfumeries and trying different scents. It's been fun!

My favorite perfume was discontinued a while back so I've been on the hunt for a new signature and picked up the Nest set ( total failure), Lancome, Penhaligon, Atelier, and Juliette has a gun.

When I order from Sephora online I always pick perfume samples for my freebies although my last order came with something entirely different from what I asked for! LOL

Just a suggestion if you don't know what perfume you intend to buy

@luvdoodles, It will be 4 years for me at end of December. I feel so much better. Stay strong; What cured me was I could hardly breathe and ended up in the hospital. I was so sick, I did not want a cigarette. My pulmonary doctor told me earlier this year that my lungs are now clear. I still receive yearly CT scans on my lungs. BTW, Congratulations!

Try out all the Marc Jacobs Daisy fragrances. A friend of mine wears that and she always smells so good. Can't remember which one.

I love Nude by Rihanna and all the Jennifer Aniston fragrances. I still wear Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker. I don't like heavy perfume.
