What product to get piecey looking bangs?

I love my bangs -- they are somewhat full and thick -- but at times they just get too much.

Is there a product that when applied gives that kind of piecy look? Or do I need to get my bangs cut a different way to achieve this?

I tell the beautician to chip out the bangs somewhat to thin them out and so they are not quite so stiff and formal looking.

I use a texturizing paste (Texture Frenzy at Ulta but there are several products like it) and rub a small amount on my finger tips and then rub down several strands of hair at a time to separate them out.

I spray my bangs lightly with a moveable (light) hairspray......and then run my fingers thru before the spray dries.

@AngelPuppy1, Once, a beautician cut bangs for me and kind of did it like one longer, one shorter. You could probably do it yourself. or do it like one row shorter than the next layer. See if Utube has a demonstration you can watch to get it done yourself. Just an idea.

I agree With flexible spray but the way I use it is I kind of move the hair away from my face with my left hand, and from below my hair, spray the hairspray upwards into the ends. I'm not hitting the roots really. I use a Kevin Murphy texturizing hairspray but I'm sure his can be done with any flexible hairspray. If you spray upward into the hair but starting at the ends, it won't get weighed down with spray and will have a piecey texture.

Hope that makes sense! I only spray my ends with a texturizing hairspray because I don't like the roots to look too piecey (that can look oily to me)

I use Aveda's Paste. It does not weigh down the hair and the jar lasts forever and gives a great piecey, textured look.

It just sounds like you have too much hair in your bangs. You probably should let the top layer grow out and comb it into the rest of your hair. My hair is very thin and fine, so the only bangs I can have are "piecey" looking.

Thank you for the ideas! I will look into some of these products. Also, the next time I go in for a trim, I will ask the stylist about a different way to cut my bangs.

I use this one, available at Target. It's $10 and I'm still on my first jar after 6 months of daily use. I love it because it's water based and doesn't build up in my hair.

I agree with having the correct cut on your bangs. I've had the same stylist for 25 years; she is quite talented and always on trend.

I've always worn my hair in some kind of pixie style. A few years ago, I wanted to go with the piecey bangs. She did 2 haircuts and I still wasn't getting the look I wanted.

At my next appt. I asked her to cut some pieces shorter than others and thin some sections of my bangs. My bangs looked EXACTLY like I wanted them to look. Istill have them cut the same way, but I MUST use product to get them to stay looking fresh all day. I found a product from RETRO HAIR called FORMING FIBER, it is perfect!

Hello AnnMarie-1. Yes, I use her volumizing mousse which I really love. It gives good volume at the roots but isn't stiff or sticky. I also use the Weightless Shine Working Serum to manage any frizzies and I like that a lot, too. I have her hairspray and it's okay but I don't like how it sprays. It's too direct a spray and I have to move it around really quickly to avoid too much product on my hair. Overall, I really like this line and it's very reasonably priced.
