I don't know that my issues and shampoos will help, but I am sensitive to sulfates and fragrances. I have found that a lot of sulfate-free shampoos have ingredients that irritate my scalp.....rosemary, orange, lemon, peppermint. I use Wen for Kids shampoo (doesn't have menthol) and/or 100% PURE, Coconut shampoo..

I don't have any specific products in mind. But I believe there are some fragrance free ones in the drug store. Also, I would check in the baby product isle. These products are surely more gentle with less additives. As for hairspray, I mostly have to leave it alone! It really irritates my skin. Once in a while I will take unscented and spray it on my brush and pull it through my hair. That way, it does not get sprayed all over my face, skin, etc. Also, if you just have fly-aways -- spray a bit on a q-tip and go over them.

I'm assuming this rash just happened recently. Have you added any new product to your routine? But then, products always change their formula and you can never tell. Or perhaps hair dyes or treatment? It may not be the styling products.

Just because they are plant based does not mean they are good for sensitive skin. Many are allergic to plants. I can use the conditioner on my ends, but I can't use the shampoo.

O/P try things unscented. Also, try a probiotic with at least 50 billion live cultures. Don't use biotin as that can make you itch if you have an itching issue.

The probiotics helped me as did the stopping of biotin.

Thanks for any suggestions!

@Lorik62. Sometimes it’s not the hair products, but rather how they’re reacting with your skincare. I try to use very little or no styling products & if I do I apply it to the hair about 1” from my face & then on the rest of my hair.

When I have had this temporary reaction (usually related to changes in weather/seasons/oiliness of skin), when home, I wear a narrow terry hair band to keep hair off my face. I also shower at night to rinse off any hair products and/or change my pillowcase every day since your hair products get deposited there and transfer to your face during the night. So clean hair, clean pillowcase and if you can sleep in soft terry headband...it helps.
