My mother used to wear a lot of beige thinking it was a cassic color and that it made her look elegant. I never had the heart to tell her she looked dreadfully all one color (her hair, skin and clothes) and that the color beige did not suit her. She never had her colors done but I suspect she was a summer like me. I can't wear beige either.

Years ago at the Prescriptives counter I was told I was a warm undertone. Oh, they were so wrong. I wonder if those girls were ever trained. I found out if you burn in the sun, have blue veins (look at your wrist) you are COOL. If you tan in the sun, have green veins, you are WARM and if you can't tell the color of your veins you are NEUTRAL. I always burned in the sun even with suntan lotion. I cannot wear warm foundation but I can wear certain warm shades of lipsticks and also peach/coral blush. Look better in pink blushes and pink & rose shades of lipstick. Do you know your undertone? Do certain color lipsticks and blush look better on you?

I have both green and blue veins so supposedly, I'd be considered a "neutral" but every time I try a foundation in the neutral range, it looks gray on me. I had my colors done years ago and was told I was a "summer" and pink blush definitely looks better on me than peach blush, although I can wear a coral lipstick.

Whenever I wear a cool pink lipstick, it looks very blue on me. Warmer pinks (corals) look like a flattering shade of pink on me. So, maybe I am a "warm summer"!

I'm really aware of this, since for a while, I had a stylist/colorist who said I needed warm tones in my hair. I thought I always looked too "golden"and this looked unnatural on me.

I went to a new salon and was told what I already knew....That I looked best in cool shades. Don't know why the other person didn't see this!?
