Powder Foundation Recs?

This question has probably been asked before, but can anyone recommend a powder foundation that isn't heavy or masklike? I have been using a tinted BB cream. I don't need a lot of coverage. Looking for something simple, just powder it on and go!

@Himi lover I've been using Laura Geller's Balance & Brighten ever since it was introduced and love it! I've tried a few others, and they just don't work for me like B & B does. I'm 62, and it doesn't settle into my fine lines or look like a mask--though the coverage is buildable. Sometimes I use it alone, sometimes over a CC cream. I've lost count of the number of compacts I've gone through. Each one lasts me 6 - 8 months.

After several attempts at finding the right powder for my needs. I have two HG status. Smashbox Halo and WanderLust powder. Love both for different reasons. Do use Smashbox primer and hydrating spray primer. Not saying other powder foundation isn't good merely found others didn't live up to the hype. Once again, Suggest that if your able visit Ulta recommend you do so try several brands.

You're right, @Himi lover, this topic has come up many times. You might find the search feature helpful in locating other threads. For a light coverage, I like Laura Geller's Baked Elements. I've been using it since it was first introduced on QVC. I can use it either alone or dusted over a BB/CC cream as a setting powder.

Balance n Brighten for me too. Her Baked Elements is also very nice. Have tried many others, but always go back to Laura.

Shiseido powder that is also a sunscreen works great for me either alone or over a light foundation when it starts to go south! I LOVE this stuff and wouldn't go through summer without it!

I like the powder foundations in the Pur line. Sometimes I mix that and Celebration Foundation from IT to get a "perfect for me" look.

To avoid that 'mask like' look, use a non tinted primer below the powder.

With that in mind, I recommend 2 products that worked for me --

Lancôme Dual Finish Foundaton & Urban Decay Naked Skin Ultra Definition Powder Foundation. They are both light in use but do cover well.

Let someone help you pick out your best shade. I use a kabuki brush to apply both & not the enclosed sponge.

I am surprised that mature women can wear powder foundation. I tried mineral powder -- NO WAY and Josie's powder foundation -- OMG. Nothing wrong with the products that I can think of but for younger skin. I see that many of you ladies are fond of Laura Geller. I would have to go to ULTA to see if I could wear it.

Laura G B&B First of all powder contains TALC! Huge no no. Second sparkles another Huge no no.! Finally! Not fragrance free.

Powder foundation is all I wear now as I've given up on liquid foundation. I'm 65 and it settles in the fine lines around my mouth which is not a good look. I've found 3 powder foundations I like which are: Laura Geller's Baked Elements, Wander Beauty, and IT Cosmetics SPF50 Celebration. All are talc free and work well on my oily skin. They give me the same coverage so when I use up the Baked Elements and Wander Beauty will probably just stick with the IT Cosmetics since it has the SPF. I got the recent TSV they had on auto delivery since it was such a good buy.

I used to use LG's B&B foundation. I liked it but didn't love it enough to stay with it. I never, ever saw any sparkles whatsoever, even in sunlight. As for talc, there is nothing wrong with it in cosmetics, unless of course you believe that it doesn't look good. I happen to think that finely-milled talc in eyeshadows and powders make for an excellent product.

@Katcat1, I share your opinion, but I have gotten my skin into really good shape. I pre-ordered the IT TSV: 2 Celebration Foundations. They came this morning and I plan on "auditioning" them over the next few days. If they don't work, DD loves IT Celebration.....

Jamie uses a couple of older models who seem to have never had work done-and they look great.

I love all of the foundations I have, but there is nothing like swiping on something easy...I miss those days.

Hopefully, by the time you post "Purchases for the Week" I will have a review.....

Laura Geller Balance n Brighten . This is by far the most natural coverage powder I've ever used and has good coverage as well. I've tried many, many powder foundations over the years and this is my pick, hands down. Bare Minerals is a close second but there is a learning curve with this one. You either get the hang of it for your particular skin needs or it just gets cakey and thick looking...

I love Jane Iredale and also enjoy LG Balance and Brighten. Sometimes the B and B tends to oxidize a bit on me; whereas, the Jane Iredale remains true to color. They are both very good coverage and I use them both regularly.

I saw that, too. But it was awfully glowy, I thought; the models' foreheads way too shiny. Maybe a good choice for drier type skin.

In any event, she sure sung a new tune in foundation application!

I have used Laura Geller Balance and Brighten for about five years.. it looks like I have almost no makeup on ,but it covers all of the small imperfections . I use a concealer over the major ones. Very lovely product ! By the way my face will be 75 years old in a few months.

@Himi lover, My all-time favorite powder foundation is Lancome's Dual Finish. If I could only have one it would be that one. Others on my list of ones I like very much are: Laura Geller's Double Take; Pur 4-in-1; It Celebration.

I prefer brushing the powder on, and never wet them, even if the leaflet says the product can be dampened for more coverage.

I'm 62 and been using the Pur 4-in-1 for a very long time. It's buildable if you want more coverage or you can dust a bit on for light, even coverage. It's my fave.
