Review of my JM big tub of Argan body cream in Lilac scent..AWFUL!👎

I ordered the Lilac scent...as Josie was exclaiming about how it smells just like Lilac. I love Lilac and was excited to receive it.

WELL..... it does NOT smell of Lilac at all! It smells terrible, like grape Kool Aid. Very disappointing! This was my first purchase with her and I will never order anything again.

It smells so awful, I can not even fathom just using it up....that bad.

@SeaMaiden So sorry to hear that but I'm not surprised.

I sound like a broken record about her body cream scents: I have never smelled one that smelled anything like the scent it claimed to be. Most actually stunk horribly. I stick to the unscented for this reason because the product IS fantastic.

I also purchased unscented - too many mixed reviews on scents. Once I use this up, I won't be repurchasing again. I found a 1 pound tub with pump at Sam's Club - NatureWell Retinol Advanced Moisture Cream which I just love. It does as much for my skin as JM's products and doesn't cost me a fortune. You can also purchase it on Amazon. Leaves my skin like silk. I think it was around $13-16 when I purchased it.

They very well might - their website was not working - but it seemed to want to pull it up. Now whether they carry this online and not in stores I don't know - I do know amazon carries it. I love that it has a pump and you're not dipping your fingers into the product.

She always says when presenting this that it's not greasy?! IMO it's greasy, and it's not the best at sinking into my skin. I hate that feeling, especially when I'm wearing shorts and sitting. I know it's my sensory issues kicking in, but I don't know how she can say this when her skin looks greasy also when she's putting it on during the presentation. I will check out that body cream you recommended. Thanks!

I commented on an earlier post that I thought it smelled like grapes also. (I was thinking grape Kool-Aid also). Glad to hear I'm not alone. To me it smells nothing like lilacs. I was very disappointed as I pretty much ordered the set of 8 just because of the Lilac...

Aww...that stinks...truly.

I've been thinking about trying Pacifica's lilac body butter, but I don't see it on Ulta's website, and I'm not sure I want to order it from Pacifica. I figured if Ulta had it, I could wait until I needed to place an Ulta order and then get it, but it's not there.

Deep Steep also has a lilac scented body butter and a lotion. I almost bought the lotion at T.J. Maxx, but told myself I have enough body lotion already. I have been kicking myself repeatedly ever since. I think it was only $5.99. I have used a few of their products and really like them (especially the body butter). I don't think they sell their body butters in a tub anymore; I hope they didn't change the formula. Anyway, I smelled the Deep Steep lotion in the tube, and it smelled like lilacs to me. Of course, I didn't go slathering it on my hands, so I can't say for sure, but I'm pretty sure I will be buying it at some point in the future. I'm just hoping I can happen upon it at T.J. Maxx again!!

@SahmIam every word you wrote I could have wrote myself! Seriously, what in the world is going on with those scents?? It is too bad because I do think the body butters are amazing but I just can't do the scents at all and am always perplexed when I read the name of the scent and actually smell it. NEVER does it smell like what it should, or even closely. And yes, most actually stink.

I was so excited when she released the honeysuckle one and bought it, which was dumb considering my track record with her scents and yep, sure enough, NOTHING even remotely close to honeysuckle scent in there. I grew up with honeyuckle and know what it smells like and it certainly in no way shape or form smelled like that. Too bad she couldn't get those scents worked out because I'd be a devoted user!

I received the LILAC scent BB when my lilac bush was in bloom, it smelled nothing like real lilacs.

I was very disappointed that it didn't smell like my precious lilacs.

I use it very sparingly,nothing like how I use vanilla bean .That smells wonderfu!! A jar of body butter that costs $50 DOLLARS SHOULD smell exactly like it's supposed to.

Just to satisfy my curiosity after having purchased the unscented body cream and it had a bottle or argon oil in it that I loved, I found some similar products at the health/beauty aisle at my local Trader Joe's. The oil bottle or organic argon oil was $6.99. I tried it doing the same things for a month and I honestly cannot tell the difference in the QVC product and it's a heck of a lot cheaper than the pricey stuff in the JM line. Keep looking ladies, there's alternatives out there.

I just don't buy the credibility any longer ... and to put the stuff in your hair just makes it REALLY look greasy ... I do not like watching these models in pretty dresses slathering this stuff on ... I would not let them in my house to sit on my sofa after using it !!

I remembered when I first smelled the Vanilla Wafer. It smelled like Play Doh, I could not tolerate the scent. Geeze, for the cost of these butters, you would think that the scent would come close to the name.

I agree with all of you. The only scents imo, that actually smell like their flavor are Vanilla Bean & Vanilla Pear. I now only have her unscented.

I cannot wear JM's butters with the warm weather because it does not absorb for me.. I have another brand that I use this time of year.

I understand how disapointed you are & maybe you should just return it if you can @SeaMaiden

I find JMs scents to be hit-or-miss. I love the Vanilla Apricot. Others I've tried are nauseating and overpowering. Others are practically subliminal.

If you have lilacs, can't you just put some blooms into the unscented BB? Like the following recipe? I'd give it a try. I like to experiment.

Lovely Lilac Oil Recipe
Pick lilac flowers, and allow them to dry overnight on a paper towel. Do not wash the flowers, as this can result in the oil becoming rancid. If there is any unwanted organic matter, simply shake the blossoms to get it off.
Place wilted lilac blossoms in a jar, and cover with the oil of your choice. Make sure the flowers are completely covered with oil; push down with spoon or chopstick if necessary. Cover and label jar with contents and date. Allow the oil to infuse in a warm place for four to six weeks.
Strain flowers from oil, bottle, and use as a facial, body or massage oil.
