Falling in Love and all the Philosophy fragrances?

How does one get the message to Philosophy that their fragrances are such a disappointment. I have been using Amazing Grace and Falling in Love for many years. Since the sale of the company it's all gone down hill. Seems like this could be turned around? Coty- bite the bullet and bring back the original fragrances everyone loves.

@pam45 I totally know what you are saying....I've been saying that for awhile lately. They water down the fragrance ever since someone said "Coty" bought the company. I don't know if that's true but there is a definite difference.

I don't get as many compliments on Amazing Grace like I used to. I've had people follow me asking me what I'm wearing.

One week ago I was checking out at my Drs office and the girl said, "You smell so good. What is the fragrance?" I said, "Amazing Grace. I'll bring you some". I always have small bottles of the fragrance, soap, etc. So when i went yesterday I took a small bottle for her. She wasn't there but her friend said, "She told me about how good you smelled and yes, I give it to her".

People are always amazed that I remember, but that's part of the fun (surprising them). I just about have to bathe (my clothes, etc) for the fragrance to last and even then I can't smell it even after I go back to the clothes. It doesn't last anymore.

I don't think they (the powers that be) care what we think, unfortunately, as long as people keep buying it.

It's too bad because people really like it but @pam45 most new users aren't like us and will probably not continue to buy it once they figure the fragrance just doesn't last.

Thanks for posting, I was thinking I was the only person who noticed the difference. I feel like I should go on their payroll, I've given out so many samples of the stuff when people ask me about it. Ha!

I totally agree...pure grace and falling in love were my signature fragrance, but no more. You can't smell them after 5 minutes, and I used to get compliments constantly and now, none, even though I have tried layering and layering. I do still buy pure grace because I haven't found a replacement (yet) but I can go through the largest bottle in 2 weeks. I have found a replacement for falling in love..Trish McEvoy 9...smells almost identical but has staying power!!! I with they would go back to making these last!!!

As long as people purchase them they will be manufactured. When people stop purchasing them they will be discontinued. There is no hope because it would too expensive and an admission of changing the formula. Look at TOVA, same exact thing..

I posted on this topic back around Christmas of last year. I purchased amazing grace @ Ulta and it was the original scent. AG was my signature scent for years so I know the original scent. My take is that they sell the original scent in retail stores and sell a watered down version on QVC because it's sold in bulk sizes and cheaper. I don't buy this from QVC anymore, would rather have the original and pay a little more.

@Goodie2shoes. Good to know. I will try local. I also like AG and stopped buying because it no longer had staying power. I am not saving money when I have to put on again all day long. Why do these big companies have to play with great formulas and water them down all the time? This shows they don't care about their products and customers. Move in, buy out and make big bucks by watering down thus losing quality and then move on when the sales go down. I have seen this happen to other products over the years. Big businesses want/need big profits. New and younger customers have no idea how much better the original products were so they settle.

With my allergies the original AG was a scent I could wear. I enjoyed it's scent and others around me did also. It had a quiet, pleasant lasting scent. Not so much any more.

@Goodie2shoes You make a good point. I think this is true with a lot of the brands on the Q. I had bought a Dell laptop several years ago and it died after 3 years. the guy at the computer repair store said it was a cheaper version of the laptop....and non repairable....that's when I finally realized you're really not getting a great deal, as always, you get what you pay for!

I don't know if the retailer makes a difference. My daughter buys Pure Grace for me from Ulta and it doesn't last at all.

I SWEAR the same thing! A bit ago I sampled Falling in Love for the first time ever at Sephora.

It was wonderful and I smelled it most of the day.

I ordered it from Q and NOTHING! It was as if the bottle was filled with water!

I returned it of course.

I never went back to Sephora to purchase cuz I thought I must be nuts that the Q version was different.

I'm not nuts! LOL At least you and I think the same thing.

I may consider repurchasing elsewhere in the future.

I absolutely agree with this. I know that the AG I've received from QVC since Coty bought out philosophy is not the same. It doesn't smell the same and it doesn't last as long (talking about the EDP here).

Then, last September when a friend was visiting, we went into the local Ulta store and I tried the spray they had there. I could still smell that perfume late that night. No one is telling me there isn't a difference.

I love Fresh Cream and the scent lasts all day. Also, I have Lemon Custard and that seems to last. Maybe they have changed some of the formulas but the ones I use last for me.

If you have some of the previous bottles, maybe you should compare the ingredients in them versus the ones offered today. I love Philosophy and am continuing to buy their fragrance sets.

I bought Amazing Grace Body Lotion during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale last July and didn't find the scent lasted very long at all on me. This could certainly be just my experience and maybe yours would be different. Just suggesting Nordstrom as another retailer to try if you want to experiement with a different source.

I have noticed my sense of smell is diminishing as I age. I haven't been able to figure out if I can't smell Amazing Grace due to the formulation change or due to my sense of smell. I used to really love it!

@pam45 Trish McEvoy makes a similar perfume called Sexy Number 9, but it is pricey.....HSN usually has deals on it when Trish is on though.....
