Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue

What do you think of this foundation? I tried it a while ago and liked it, but found it didn't last very long on my face.

I have not tried it yet, but want to try it. I've read a lot of the reviews and I think it will work for me. I am 65, have dry skin & can get away with wearing a light coverage CC cream or tinted moisturizer. I'm trying not to spend a lot right now on extras as we are remodeling our patio, so I think I'm going to look for a tube of this solo on Ebay or Amazon.

@homedecorator I use BM Complexion Rescue & Love it! I don't consider it a true foundation but it has more coverage that the typical tinted moisturizer. If it doesn't last on you that I would suggest a setting spray or you can use a light application of BM original foundation if you want the same finish. If you have a translucent powder that is not a flat matte & lightly apply it that would be another option. If I apply any kind of powder I use a Rose Water spray mist. HTH

I just tuned in to QVC & thats an excellent TSV for the price. That under over finishing powder seems to work well with the Rescue.

I'm 63 with dry skin. I really like this. I agree that it doesn't last as long, but a little mineral veil or foundation and it lasts all day.

@AmericanBulldogMom I can see why it would not work on oily skintypes. IMO its more for normal to dry skintypes, combination topped with a setting powder in areas of the t-zone. Have you tried Laura Mercier?

@Kabella Hi! Yes, I have tried both of hers- the regular and the oil free. Both work better for me than BM's but still aren't great on my oily skin in the warm months here. A few weeks ago I started using PC's Resist Ultra Light 30spf for oily skin based on a few recs. So far so good.

It will lasts about 7 hours if I use a powder over it and sometimes a setting spray. Don't use a primer with it, really not needed. Actually reapply it on the areas when it starts breaking down. Its very forgivable. Just carry extra one in my purse and apply it like a lotion on the spots needed. Wear it to work and it lasts most of the day.

I got it in the kit yesterday and I applied and looked like a grease ball. I applied the over and under powder and still looked greasy. Not for me. I thought it was a mouse type and would sink in but it just lays on the skin.

@chiclet Its not for everyone. I have learned to try out a foundation that is sold in store then I will order a TSV if I feel its a good value. Rarely, I find a kit where I will use or like everything. Just return it & good luck in your search

@chiclet not sure what your skin is like, but I am dry and it's not greasy at all on me. You also need to apply very little. I tap with a beauty blender after applying with my fingers.

I just tried it this morning and it was horrible.

I applied a (very expensive) Vit. C serum and let it soak in. Decided I would try the foundation without moisturizer since it's supposed to like this "one stop shopping" foundation. I used the large round brush to apply.

OMG it was horrible. It just kind of smeared around on my face in these patches and made every pore look gigantic. I tried patting it in with my fingers but didn't have much luck. I tried adding a touch more to certain areas for more coverage. It didn't work.

Applied the over/under primer finishing powder and it matted the horrible shine a bit, but left my face feeling really rough. I actually had to use my go-to powder on top of that.

The color cosmetics just left me looking half dead (I'm fair and ordered the Opal shade). The lipstic makes lips try and uncomfortable.

I'll try this again with the over/under powder UNDER the foundation.

But so far, I'm ready to pack it up and send it back.

My mom gave me this kit as a gift. I probably wouldn't have ordered it myself as I don't really need any makeup at the moment lol. I tried it for the first time today and have to say that I really like all the pieces in this set. Very pleased with it.

homedecorater: I have been using Bareminerals for a long time. I've used it all and I like clear radiance. However, I tried the bareMinerals Invisible Bronze & Glow with brush, A290407. U can purchase both on QVC or buy the Glow separately, but I am loving both. The bronze is lite, not orange or a fake tan look. the Glow is like a radiance. An invisible highlight, which is what radiance is all about. Give it a try

@RainyDayGal What skintype are you? I think when using a Vit. C might be the problem for you. It tends to dry the skin so I would put a light moisturizer after without spf. & let that set. Then use very little of the product first. You can always build on it. Maybe the shade you chose is all wrong for you. I do not care for BM's mineral veils & basically that is what that primer powder is....

At 65 I've been fighting oily skin most of my life. It's dried out a bit but still tends to shine. I actually liked this kit. Yes, it made me a bit shiny, but after applying the powder over and using a little bit of Mally's Poreless Face Defender on my nose, I thought it appeared more dewy than shiny. I also always carry those little powdered blotting papers for excess oily shine on my face. At my age, too dry looks old.

I did try it and like it very much. I tried it for one day, at home, because I did not dare go out with the color I had chosen. I called QVC to find find out about exchanging the kit for another color. It turns out not only do I need to pay for shipping and handling, which I already new of, but also I am losing the special offer from 56.94 to $69. Therefore, my easy pay is also going up. I think this is totally unappropriate for a successful company like QVC to take advantage of their customers this way. They seem to forget that we, the CUSTOMERS, are the reason for their success.

I DO HOPE QVC READS THIS.

That's not right of QVC at all! Haven't they ever heard of an even exchange? If you bought something on sale, say at Macy's or probably anywhere else and it wasn't the right color, size, etc, you would just exchange it and not have to pay more if it wasn't on sale any longer.

Day 2

No Vit. C, applied moisturizer. Then used the primer powder, the applied foundation with fingers.

It looked like I was sloughing my skin while applying it, definitely NOT a smooth, even application. And even though I have dry skin, it still is greasy on me. It also does NOT apply extra coverage where needed, it is not buildable.

Used the over/under powder on top of foundation and it helps a bit. However, the stuff darkens my foundation and makes my skin look muddy.

The blush barely shows up on me, and the lipstick is the same and makes my lips feel uncomfortable.

The whole kit is too much work. There should not be a learning curve for applying foundation. The foundation just doesn't feel comfortable on my skin. Back it goes.
