Packing Tape and Exfoliating

Yes, packing tape. That clear stuff you find on big rolls. It works for me and it works really well. Just used it this morning matter of fact. I just cleansed my face and let it dry. Then lightly pat down the tape where I had some post-retin-a peeling. Of course stay away from the eye area and avoid the lips. It works and its fast! I can't say that about my glycolic although I still use it at night. I just started using the Retin-a so the peeling will eventually subside. But until then...tape on...lol!

Anyone one else use the "tape method"?

I would suggest you check what the ingredients are with sticky packing tape.

I wouldn't use this on my skin.

here it is.

a film of cellulose (a man-made textile fiber produced from plant matter) provides the backing for adherends made from chemically treated petroleum byproducts that create the tape's stickiness.

I'll confess.

You know those products for "rough & bumpy" skin?

I use it on my face

It's an exfoliator.

My skin is like a baby's bum.

I'm not really worried about this because the tape doesn't stay on my skin for very long. It's quickly done.

That's just my opinion but I wouldn't advertise it. Wouldn't you think with the billion dollar beauty industry looming that 3M wouldn't of joined in and said hey use our packing tape on your face?

Yes, I can see that it could leave residue. @Mistreatedbycs But I think any kind of adhesive tape, including first-aid type, has chemicals in it. Pick your poison, like they say.

I've seen far worse ingredients in some skincare products.

Sorry but no. I have no interest in trying this. Have you ever smelled packing tape? yikes. I will stick with my muslin cloth- gentle, cheap, safe and does the job.

I remove my peach fuzz with a shaver @Nomorebirthdays. So I'm not sure if the tape will remove it. Have you tried to remove peach fuzz this way?

@SilleeMee no I have not, but I will try it. I actually tried to use tape this am for a package and could get roll started and put it aside out of frustration.

I once ripped my lip open using some type of tape to get rid of chapped lips. Don't know who suggested it, someone on TV. Of course I'll try this, I'll go for anything except derma rolling.

It's not just something I do everyday @dex. I get an occasional episode of extreme peeling, dry skin from using my new Retin-a product. It's just a quick way to get rid of some the flakes when I'm in a rush. Also, just certain small areas and not my entire face.

I think some get the idea I do this on a regular basis....NO! I've done this only a few times in the last several months.

I wonder if adhesive tape or the sticky part of a bandage would work just as well? They are made for skin contact.

Yes, that might work. First-aid or white-sports tape will probably work well, too.

I remember when I was a kid and got a bad sunburn. When it started to peel my mom took some scotch tape and and removed the peeling skin. I'll never forget that.

Band-Aids might be safer to use than packing tape. Sure feels like they strip off skin!
