Cream on cream; always. You can then set with powder.

I either use my fingers or a non-animal hair blush brush. I find that animal hair brushes hold the cream blush and either it goes on splotchy or I have to use quite a bit more. IT brushes, elf brushes, etc do a great job.

Not always, but occasionally my skin looks a little pale or washed out. I just purchased a cheap --- Elf blush in a very pretty light shade and in a formula --- cream to powder. I have never used much blush and never used this formula at all.

Am I to use this right after foundation and before powder? Or do I apply powder first and then the blush?

Also, the directions just say, just apply a swipe with fingers. Should I try this or use a brush? I don't want to apply much and look too obvious.

Thanks!

I figured I would get an inexpensive blush just to see if I liked it!!!

Good morning again! When applying cream blush, always remember cream on cream or liquid....: you don't necessarily want to put cream on top of powder.

Apply foundation, then your blush: using powder can tone it down if you need to.

I always check the color on the back of my hand by patting my finger on the blush and patting on my hand. That tells me how much to apply.

Less is more. Make a dot on the Apple of your cheek and start blending towards your hairline.

I

You don't have to be a MU artist, but where you place your blush makes a huge difference-and no, you don't have to buy more products.

Do you have any makeup sponges? The disposable will do, but those are incredibly useful for blending.

Poodlepet2

I love to use cream blush like a base color for my powder blush. I use liquid foundation (but I have used cream blush on powder foundation & it usually isn't a problem), then tap the cream blush onto the fullest part of my cheek & blend it along the cheekbone towards my hair line. It looks best if I don't get too low on my cheek & I make sure that the color fades before it gets to the hair line. You don't want a stripe of color going into your hair. You will see if the color looks too high, too low, too close to your nose. You just want that healthy glow of color on the cheek. Then I powder & use a powder blush over that. It sounds like a lot, but the cream blush is usually a sheer color & just adds depth to my cheek color. And, I may wear a more bronzey cream to the lower part of my cheek & then a peach color right along my cheek to give some contour to my face.

The only thing I would add is that if you want a soft application, you need a soft (or very soft) brush. Fingers are not soft, though you can get a soft look w/ a soft touch.

Harpa and I had a brief discussion not too long ago about creams that you can use on powders-be it, blush, concealer etc.

There are powder foundations, blush-even some finishing powders that you can use a cream product on: the proviso to that is you have to experiment-but you really want to do that when you are not in a rush and can remove if it doesn't work.

Poodlepet2

Tip for any blush application on older women or those of us who once had higher cheeks...it's more flattering to place your blush slightly higher and outward on your cheeks rather than on the center of the apples. Center of of apples tends to draw things down. Placing blush higher brings a more lifted look.

Center of of apples tends to draw things down. Placing blush higher brings a more lifted look.

@SilleeMee

I hadn't heard that and I appreciate the tip! Maybe this will be something I can try -- and will look better!

@AngelPuppy1 I use my fingers or a brush. Since you are new to applying cream blushes, just use a small amount on 2 finger, your 3rd & 4th. The warmth of your fingers while gently blending works well. I can reco.an affordable brush for blending cream blushes which does work well. Its Elf Studio small stipple brush. I have others too but Elf works just as well. Just lightly dip it on the blush, you can always add more. If you feel you have used too much blush, use a damp beauty blender & pat that over the blush to lighten the application. Good Luck
