Review of Josie Marans Ilumminzing Body Butter/Vanilla Peach

Oh dear, where do I start! It is too dark for my skintone which is light to med. If I wanted to use a self tanner on my face or a product like LG's Bronze & Brighten then it would work. I only use a bronzer for contouring. Now, love it for my legs! looks like I have silk nylons on, just beautiful. What I did try that works for me is to mix 2 parts unscented body butter with one part illuminizer which looks more like my skin tone with a nice sheen that is not over the top and lasts. The dry down time using just the illumizer was for me was 1/2 hr. The mixture of the two took 1 hour. I put on an old white tank top and I did not get transfer but a bit on the inside of my white bra straps. I put it on my arms early this am and the sun was out & I did notice an ever so slightly tiny specks of sparkle which is not a problem as its so miniscule. The scent is a light vanilla with a hint of peach. This would work great straight up for my Mom or any lady who has med.to tan or a Tan & deeper skintone. I would use a light hand, too much is too glowy for me.

Thanks for the review. I passed on this item for 2 reasons. One is that I have one more shipment on a Josie auto-delivery and don't want to get backed up with too much stuff. The other is - I don't buy any illuminizing products anybody sells. We old girls have just got to draw the line somewhere!

@millieshops...This is a product to share because its a 19oz Jar. You can use it on your legs and mix it with more unscented to just get a slight glow on your arms... Just sayin"...

I like the illuminating body butter, but was sad to see that she only sells it in the one color now. I'm very fair and the tan color is too dark for me most of the time. I love your tip about mixing it with the unscented body butter and will definitely give that a try. Thank you for that, @Kabella!

I find the shimmer to be too much during the daylight hours, but I like it in the evenings.

Hi @Kabella, I'm glad to hear you like the butter. I always dilute with regular body butter when I use her illumating. I usually order her unscented illuminizing so I can mix it with other scents of regular body butter and I love the combo.

Hi @ChynnaBlue, Josie is having a TSV on March 6 with her self tanning oil (love that stuff) and illuminizing body butter. In one of the pics, the illuminizing body looks lighter in color than her current one but in another picture of the larger jar, it looks a little darker. I guess we'll have to wait til that day to see but if you dilute it with regular body butter that does tend to lighten up the color. I'm not too fond of the thicker texture of the illuminizing using it alone.

Thanks, @Angela_SoCal. I saw that and thought the exact same thing! One picture has a small tub labeled 'White Gold Radiance + Vanilla Scent' and another shows the small tub labeled 'Paradise Pina Colada Light Bronze'. There is no Vanilla scent listed in the purchase options, just Vanilla Apricot, so I have no idea what's happening there. I do have a small tub of the white gold illuminizing body butter from an old set of 4 or 6 and I like that color a lot. I am planning to tune in for the TSV presentation to see how it all shakes out with the colors.

Of all the people I know I am the queen of soaps and lotions and potions for the body and Josie Morans lotion does nothing for my skin that is dry............I can't tell its not a cheap lotion. With the cost my skin should be soft really soft as my skin is not alligator skin. Done with the hype of oils being $50

@ChynnaBlue, I'm curious with the about the color of the BB in the TSV too. I'm going to order regardles because I love her tanning oil and the price of the TSV is worth it for the tanning oil alone.

B&BW used to sell a glow lotion under the True Blue Spa label. I don't know if they still do or not. I bought 2 bottles of it during one of their half yearly sales because I thought it was nice.

However, what I quickly realized was it rubbed off on clothing, upholstery, etc. and I was afraid Josie's would do the same.

Yes @Angela_SoCal you are so right...her new March TSV is awsome just for the tanning oil (mine is out for delivery) which is my favorite all time self-tanner..I have used the St Tropez for years, and I still do, but Josie's oil for my skin is heads above that...It is expensive though for the size of the bottle so I use it on arm & neck area only...(Otherwise I would use it exclusively)..

I also mix the Ilumminzing butter if I use it with her reg body butter, but it is nice if you want a step up for special occasion, I don't use it everyday...

JoJoba oil seems to help but I still get those bumps on my rumpus and back of my legs and arms, ugh all else is good but I have not really found anything I love..........I have some borghese to open but I doubt it works either. I wish I knew. I have tried so many things..........and drug store stuff does not work for sure.

@DowntonAbbey...Have you tried Jason Age Renewal Vit. E 25,000 I.U...Its a face & body very rich cream for very dry skin, just remembered it. I Tryed it once for my face but it was too rich but it would be great for a Body Cream. You can get it at health food stores...order it from Vitacost. Its all natural, no scent, vegan & cruelty free. I was going to mention also Sweet Almond Oil to mix in to what you are already using which might help, Good Luck

Update on my Josie TSV for March 6th....I just recieved it, the Ilumminzing Body butter is "light bronze" in 8 & 2 oz....I love it, I can't really see much of a color just rubbing it on my hand,

(no glittery look at all too me)...I will mix it with my unscented, I always mix it anyway.

Of course the deal on her Tanning oil for the two bottles is worth the kit for me..

@pbkong I ordered the Vanilla/apricot, which I already knew I loved..

I have not tried the other two scents tho...and since I mix the Ilumminzing body butter with unscented it makes mine a bit lighter...To me the tanning oil scent, (the same) fads some after it dry's (at least that is how my skin reacts)..

I recently ordered her TSV which is coming up next week. Mine was shipped a few days ago. Not a fan of her illuminizing butters but I see that many suggest to mix with a regular butter. Will give this a try. BTW I ordered her Pina Colada. I was hesitant to order but it was a great deal for the tanning oil.
