Help! I need suggestions for facial hair removal.

Recently, I started to have facial hairs growing above my upper lip. It's very annoying, since I don't think lady mustache is a good look for me. I tried plucking them with tweezers, but it takes forever, and it doesn't get to the finer hairs. Do any of you beauties have to deal with facial hairs? What do you use? What works for you? Product recommendations welcome!

I've tried bleaching, waxing, tweezing, and epilating, but the thing that works best for me is a razor. I like an electric or a plain old razor. It's super fast and easy, does not require me to grow it out to address, and doesn't take any prep or cleanup.

Funny today I have an appointment at Macy,s for a waxing. I have done my own for years with melted wax when I was younger and hair was dark, I,m Italian. Did strips from Walgreen,s, but this will be my first professional waxing, my facial hairs are white.

It isn't painless, but I use an Emjoi eRase - the small one (60 tweezers, I think). I had a larger Emjoi epilator and find that the smaller style is easier to hand and maneuver around my face. The minor discomfort is tolerable. I use the eRase in my pits too.

I couldn't do it. I tried many, many times, but it hurt too much and my eyes would tear up. I use the eRase on my underarms and legs, but not my face. The one I bought as a TSV came with an electric razor attachment and I use that on my upper lip instead.

When I was younger I had quite a glorious fu manchu.. After many years of tweezing, bleaching and shaving I finally got laser hair removal done on my face and underarms. It was the best thing I ever did to get rid of the hair permanently.

However, over the years since then I do find an occasional stray hair on my upper lip or on the underarms. So instead of spending tons of money and time at the laser salon I purchased this device and it has gotten rid of any strays for good. I'll use tweezers if I see one or two new ones popping up in the am. I have a facial trimmer (battery operated) that I purchased years ago. I think it's a good "starter tool". I like my emjoy with the sensitive cover to do a complete job.

I also use a facial trimmer that I bought from QVC a few years ago.......I've also recently bought an electric razor for women if/when my trimmer does quits working.........I can't use the Emjoi.....way too painful....

Once a month I get a good facial wax by a woman that I have been going to for years, she's quick, she is super efficient and the cost is very reasonable. It hurt at first, but after a while it wasn't that bad. I get my chin and right under my chin waxed and my upper lip and eyebrows..........

IMO, I never liked how shiny my face looked after hair removal...tried Emjoi, waxing, etc. Having a slight bit of fuzz seemed more natural & cover imperfections...especially lines on upper lip. I started bleaching mustache hair and sideburns. I use Sally Hansen's Extra Strength Bleach. It turns the hair a very light blonde.

Hope it is not out of the way to ask, but what was the cost of your laser treatments, how many did you have? Do you find you have to go back for maintenance. How often. I know you purchased an over the counter laser like device, but do you go back evey often to professional laser treatments.

It's been many years since I had those professional laser treatments. I had to go in once a month for 6 months. Back then it cost more than it does today because it has gained popularity. I bought a package of treatments for my face and underarms. It was over $1800 for six sessions. I went back a couple of times to get touch ups and those were $250 each session. The cost will vary depending on what part of the country you get it done.

The device I bought has saved me money and it works! I have not gone back to get professional treatments anymore. I have gotten rid of all hair on my legs and bikini area with this device. No more shaving for me. It will not get rid of all the peach fuzz on my face but it has greatly reduced the amount of it. No more upper-lip or chin hairs...gone!

When I was young, I bleached but it still showed the hair. I did home waxing for years and some beauty salon waxing. Late last year I bought the small Emjoi from QVC. (Around $50.+, I think) I use it on chin area and upper lip. I don't have to use it very often and it is much better than tweezing those pesky chin hairs. Takes them a while to grow back this way.

For a very long time I used Surgi Cream microwavable wax. Going back several months I caved and got the Emjoi Epi Slim 18. I use it on my upper lip and chin. Sometimes it pinches a little bit but it's no more painful than ripping off the wax, in fact less painful. Sometimes I still have to get the tweezers out for a stubborn one here or there but all in all the Epi Slim works for me and it's more convenient than microwaving the wax, by the time the wax would be ready I can already have the job done.

Wow, so many options--shaving, laser, epilator, waxing! Thanks, ladies, for all your suggestions and recommendations!! You are so knowelegable. I'll have to look into those options and what works best for me. I think I'll try the trimmer first, because it seems like the most economical way. And if it doesn't work, I'll move on to other options. Thanks a lot!!

Just want to add my personal experience. I did lots of home remedies and professional waxing. After menopause, really got a beard, so broke down and did laser. Just want to add this information. IF you decide to go this route for upper lip or those pesky chin hairs....DO NOT WAIT TOO LONG. I was advised the laser will NOT remove gray hairs, so if you plan to do it, get it done before those chin hairs are gray! Just sayin'.....

There was one thing my mother told me that was wrong. She told me not to tweeze or shave the hair above my lip. She said it would grow back dark so I never touched it. Now I find out from this forum that your hair will NOT turn dark if you shave it, etc. I purchased a woman's chargeable shaver. Once you charge it, it does last a long time. It's Panosonic Wet/Dry ES2207. I bought it from EBay or Amazon and it actually shipped out from Best Buy. It was a great purchase and only about $20.
