Powder Foundation Questions

Hoping someone might be able to help me. Interested in powder foundations. Laura Geller B&B or IT Celebrate illuminating. 58 dry to combo skin. Liquid no longer works. Thank you for any help.🌷

I'm almost old enough to be your mother and I use IT, the original in the black compact. I have no problems with it looking cakey or sitting in my many fine lines. Maybe because I use a good facial moisturizer first. I hated the one in the silver compact with the 50 spf (or maybe it's white I forget), ordered that one by mistake one time, yuck.

@Sweet_Serenity - I have both of the ones you mentioned, and I like them both! The IT illuminating gives me a little more coverage than the B&B, but you can always layer the B&B. I tried the regular IT Celebration foundation, and I like the illuminating one so much better. My skin really does look brighter! I also have Laura's Balance and Glow Illuminating foundation. I prefer that over her regular B&B too. Both brands will give you a nice coverage, and what I like about them is you can go light to heavy, whichever you prefer. (I prefer a medium coverage, and some days I just do a light dusting.)

I am in your age range and have dry, sensitive skin. I really like LG B&B. It goes on as a powder but it doesn't look like a powder. It really just looks like your skin but better. This one always gets my vote. The compact lasts a long time so it is budget friendly for me.

@Sweet_Serenity - I do wear primer, over my sunscreen. My favorite is Laura's Spackle in Champagne (I'm warm complected).

@Sweet_Serenity, Responding strictly based on the two powder foundations you asked about, I would go with Laura Geller's Balance-N-Brighten. It's Illuminated Celebration is fine, but if you do go with that brand I suggest the original regular Celebration.

If you are open to other powder foundations to consider Laura Geller's Double Take and Lancome's Dual Finish are two which I love.

Own Elements, Tried liking finish. Plan on gifting DIL shade seems to dark for my tone. She'll use it so it's not wasted. Thank you!🌷

@Sweet_Serenity I use before applying anything foundation wise to my face a combination moisturizer sunscreen from Garnier called Garnier SkinActive Clearly Brighter. It contains an SPF 15 sunscreen and comes in a pump bottle that locks to one side if traveling. So far, mine has lasted over 3 months and I have normal skin. I let it dry before applying powder.

I use Lancôme Dual Finish powder foundation or the Urban Decay Naked Skin foundation. I find I need a winter and summer shades in both.

I used LG B&B for years and Bare Minerals before that. I can no longer wear powder foundation as my skin is very dry. I have two go-to foundations that work for my dry, dry skin: Chanel Vitalumiere and Armani Luminous Silk. I'd love to try some of the drug store brands like L'Oreal True Match but I usually end up spending as much trying to get the right shade as I would getting color matched at a department store!

I've had my bottle of Armani for over a year and have barely made a dent. It takes only a tiny drop to cover well.

I don't think age has everything to do with whether you can wear powder foundations at all.

As far as my 2 cents, Laura Geller Double Take, Baked Elements and Halo in the jar that shaves fresh loose powder.. making it easily portable. I just bought a travel size for an upcoming trip.

I like Urban Decay Naked Skin powder foundation. But since I started using Lancome's stick foundation, I mostly use it as a finishing powder. Either way, it's very nice.

I am mature, dry, and pale. I like Lancome duel finish best. I have a winter color and a summer color. Also like LG double take better than b+b. Do not like IT, many do.

From past posts I've gathered, like me, you prefer lighter coverage foundation formulas. In fact, due to your recommendation of Geller's Baked Elements I purchased and like it.

Quite a while back as an impulse buy I purchased UDNS liquid foundation which was too heavy. I'm open to a light but creamy powder formula. I think Tarte might have one which has creamy powder in the name. What did you think of the UD powder as a stand alone foundation?

I rarely set foundation. For times when I do I'll use Laura Mercier's Translucent- which of course is loose powder in a honker-sized jar. I'm looking for portability- primarily for travel. I do think certain foundations need some sort of setting powder so they don't slide around, look shiny and mainly help with longevity. I'm on the dry side however.

It would be great to find a truly creamy compact powder as a "one and done" for traveling. I'm all about multi-taskers & being a makeup minimalist when away from home.

Also, how are you using & blending out Lancome's stick foundation? I have a Bobbi Brown stick formula which isn't being used. It's creamy enough but matches my skin so well (a very good thing) I can't really see where I'm blending. Any tips? ..... thoughts?

@Funloving, I've never used the LG Baked Elements foundation; you must be thinking of someone else. As for coverage, I guess I prefer medium or light that can be built up.

The Lancome stick foundation is easily blended with a brush of fingers. It is a natural finish -- more matte that shiny. You might be able to go without a finishing powder. I use the UDNS powder foundation mostly now to set my concealer and eye primer (which is also my concealer.)

I do like the UDNS powder foundation but not as well as the stick. I think it may be due to the shade variance. But it is good, and sometimes if I'm in a hurry or in a minimalist mood, I will just use the powder.
