SUGGESTIONS FOR NEW BEAUTY LINES

Since we're all tired of seeing the same beauty products presented, which new lines that you've seen or purchased at Sephora or ULTA or elsewhere would you like to see on QVC? Your suggestion can also be beauty lines that are seldom presented that you'd like to see more often.

I'd like beauty shows with Stila, Laura Mercier and Urban Decay.

I would like to see Juice Beauty, Acure Organics and Stila. Although i wear Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer, her settings powder, blush and lipsticks, I feel it is a higher end cosmetic co. and would not come to the Q. Now, I may be wrong but if sales are down, it may happen. P.S. Great thread to start as it may give QVC some ideas. Thanks.

@Katcat1 Many moons ago (can't tell you when, been Q customer for about 25 yrs.), Laura Mercier did have several presentations on Q. I think her line was not as well known then & she may have a better chance now. Q lost Smashbox to HSN. Not sure why, seemed items sold out during presentations. Bobbi Brown in many other countries on Q, but not here even though all TSVs and products sold out before end of hour and still online.

Too Faced, Benefit and Lancôme are all sold frequently on HSN & I watch there. Most of Q's cosmetic lines, MALLY, LG, IT are only sold at ULTA or on their own sites. Maybe it's a question of finding brands w/o much retail competition. This is a big mistake. Makeup lines in B&M stores or large websites like Sephora do your advertising for you at no cost. Q has e/p & Sephora does not. If the item is expensive, that's a selling point for Q.

It seems QVC has either totally lost a lot of the beauty brands they used to have or they present a few items here and there in beauty shows but they no longer have full hour long shows like they used to have. Now it seems QVC is all Philosophy, IT and Josie Maran.

Hi all: great topic . I agree I would like to see Juice Beauty the new line of makeup looks interesting as well as Acure ,and other cruelty free brands like W3ll people and Kjaer Weis .

There have been brands that come like RMS, Ramy Beauty but are shown so infrequently , they never really get an audience . Edward Bess , a premier quality brand is hardly ever on or shown at odd hours. These smaller niche brands or any cosmetic/skin care brand for that matter needs to be showcased so customers can see the brands and what they offer. It seems that QVC focuses on the big sellers WEN , IT and Josie Maran they seem to dominate all the Beauty shows , but it would be nice to give other brands a shot. in the spotlight . Variety would also probably pull in more viewers .I hardly watch the beauty shows anymore because it seems to be the same vendors, .same products and same stories ..

I can't think of any reason I would want an already established beauty line to become available on QVC. They are available at other places already so why would I want to pay more plus shipping just to get it from QVC?

Over the holidays, I explored QVC in the UK, France, Germany, Japan and China. I don't know what the relationship is between QVC and HSN, but there has got to be some kind of relationship. I always go to beauty because it's what I buy the most of, but brands presented on HSN are found on the Q International web-sites....

I don't think the Q loses any brands: what we see is a result of scientific research from an economic point of view.

When QVC began, shopping channels on television was in its infancy and a stab in the dark. Over the years, they have brought on all kinds of advisors and employees who specialize in business, marketing etc.

It's a big business, and consequently has to use concepts formulated for big business in terms of what sells, who buys, etc-not to mention cultural considerations.

When a vendor leaves, it's probably a calculated move on their part as well as QVC.

@Shanus, I like your post, but disagree about QVC not being a viable advertising and marketing resource for brands. In fact, retail industry marketing research companies have data which proves that a brand which appears on a shopping channel invariably experiences increased foot traffic to their brick & mortar counters and websites where their brand is sold following an TV appearance. This generally equates to a bump in sales too, so it is actually being on TV which is the golden goose of advertising for beauty brands. The impact of appearing on QVC and HSN for a beauty brand is wider reaching, and costs much less than the hundreds of thousands even for small space in magazines and millions for the big full page ads.

Some of the hottest brands in stores are only successful because of TV (even if they no longer appear on the shopping channels). A few of them would not be in nearly as many retail locations were it not for the customers asking for it because they were seeing the brand on TV. Bare Minerals comes to mind as the all time poster child for this, but if I really felt like giving it thorough recall the list it would be lengthy. Then there are brands which were already successful (in stores around the world) before coming to TV, but being on TV has brought thousands of new customers to their counters (Lancome, Benefit, St. Laurent, Bobbi Brown, Nars).

Back to the original question, I'd like to see the shopping channels show something as simply as brushes and combs (not the mechanical stuff), Beauty Blender or similar quality makeup applicators. Selling items of exquisite quality like Mason Pearson would be an enhancement to any retailer's beauty product inventory. I actually purchased a Mason Pearson hairbrush from QVC in the early 90s when they had the second channel known as Q2.

I do not receive their Beauty Channel which I think is a big mistake. Does QVC think I would pay so I can watch their Beauty Channel? I don't think so. Yes, their regular beauty programs are becoming boring that are offered on QVC. It's the same vendors over and over. Someone at QVC needs to add new beauty vendors.

I love this thread! I remember some years ago the little known byTerry line was presented. Now, it is considered a high-end/luxury brand. I would LOVE to see Le Mer, La Prairie or Sisley-Paris on the Q. Yes, I know they are pricey but I am sooooo tired of the same o same o. I don't even watch their annual beauty awards anymore -haven't for a couple of years. because you know who/what s going to win. BORING!

This is years ago, but TOVA use to bring cosmetics to the Q and they were very nice and high quality. I guess when she sold her boutiques in Beverly Hills is when she stopped bringing them to the Q.

Clientele also had a cosmetic line too, but that is long gone also. For new items, I would like to see( NARS come back to the Q )and Urban Decay, YSL, and Julie Hewett.

I know Philosophy products sell on QVC but the scent doesnt last and it is very expensive. I fee like it a waste of money. Soap and Glory brand has bath and beauty line and it smells so good and last a long time. Would love for QVC to look into this line of products. Thank you Jackie

I find I learn a lot about a product when they present on the Q or HSN. I would love to see them provide vendors who are all natural, cruelty free and environmentally safe. The more I learn about the products the more likely I would be to purchase. I think it would be a great opportunity for the Q or HSN to focuse a large portion of their beauty products on these 3 key factors.
