Lately my stylist has been applying a glaze to my hair after highlighting. She applies it for about 5 minutes then rinses. Do you have any suggestions for a similar product to repeat this at home?

I did an internet search and found John Frieda's Luminous Color Glaze Clear Shine. Have any of you used that, or do you recommend something else?

Thank you! 😊

I have used this product as directed and sometimes I put it on my dry hair, let it sit for 30 min and wash, condition as usual. I didn't notice that it changed my hair color(I have red highlights) and leave a nice shine.

I use the Sebastian Cellophane Clear. My hair is naturally very dark brown, almost black and this stuff makes it shine like crazy. Just put it on clean dry hair and leave it on for one hour. Speed up time to 20 minutes with dryer if you want. Shine lasts three to four weeks with one treatment for me. Walmart has it for $17. Jet less than $16.

After paying as much as I have to for color every 4 weeks, I won't chance any DIY products that could alter color. She puts on a glaze each time for shine/repair split ends.

I appreciate the feedback. 😊

I get highlights every 6-8 weeks. The glaze costs $25 at my salon and makes my hair feel shiny and soft, but it only seems to last about 2-3 weeks. I wondered if there was something to try at home after the stylist's glaze wears off. The salon uses Redken and Pureology, and those are the brands I've been using at home. I love the way my hair looks and feels after coming out of the salon. I've read that some clients return for another glaze treatment between color appointments. Seems like it should last longer than it does.

I think the length of time the glaze will last depends on how often you shampoo plus the kind of shampoo and styling products you use on your hair.

A co-worker of mine said her daughter used John Frieda's Blonde Glaze after she over-highlighted her hair to a very pale yellow-white. The Glaze defnitely made her highlights more golden blonde so in that respect, I guess it does darken the hair.

ION Color Brilliance has a clear shine color you use separately or mix with a shade. you use a developer with it in 1:1 ratio

305447 DemiPerm Clear w/ 10 volume developer . i get it at Sally. i mix mine with color

(7NB)

because it is a demi it will wash out over time. i am 3.5 weeks out from my last app, shine is there. the color has faded off a bit

if you don't wish to use developer, the ION semi 305074 (no mix, small 3oz squeeze bottle) has a clear shine you apply with a bowl/brush. it is thicker than the demi w/developer.
