Not sure what price range but when my face is very dry I use the Cerave big tub of moisture cream, great for all over and Beautypedia wrote it up as containing good ingredients - can get at drugstore for around $14 lasts forever. Good luck to you. Hope you feel better soon.

Since you mentioned breaking out, I'd avoid coconut oil. It's a known pore clogger for acne prone skin. I second the CeraVe & argan oil and use both together. I have the lotion (the cream is better for dry skin) and use argan oil on top.

If your skin is very, very dry, try Elta MD moisturizer (intense moisturizer- blue--not red--- packaging - amazon). It's only about $12 for a 3.8 ounce jar. It's very soothing for very, very dry skin. It doesn't have a bunch of anti-aging ingredients, but it's a really good basic cream that will make your skin feel supple and normal again.

The Eucerin pictured above is a good choice. Two years ago I had something break me out really bad and I used that plus Vaseline Intensive care in the white bottle. My skin was so dry it hurt and using Eucerin during the day and Vaseline at might helped get me back to normal in no time at all.

Maybe a visit to a derm could shed some light on your problem(s). Getting to the cause of your dry skin might give you a better understanding of how to treat it.

If this is something new or different, talk to your physician, there could be something going on. I always recommend Original A+D Ointment for any skin problems for hangnails, dry cuticles, paper cuts, extreme dry skin. It's petroleum jelly with vitamins. It can heal a paper cut in 24 hours, it will help your dry skin. It's best to use it at bedtime.

@1 blue star wrote:

MY SKIN ON FACE IS SO DRY MY FACE EVEN BREAKS OUT.

have super sensitvie skin with a ton of issues and take medication. My skin (especially on my face) reacts to just about every thing. It can be upseting and frustrating and quite the challenge to find products that help and fit my budget. I have found the Dr.Denese skincare line works for me. I order it when it's on easy pay and in the super size so it's more budget friendly. Here's my list:

Hyrdroshiled serum---you only use a few drops on your face and neck

Wrinkle Defense for the face and neck--you only need a little bit and it just slides on the skin.

Dream Cream moisurizer -You can use this day and/or night. This is where I started.

If I had to pick two products to start with it would be the Hydroshiled Serum and the Dream Cream. If you can only pick one then I would pick the Dream Cream simply because it's a bit more budget friendly and a more universal use.

Hope you have the same good luck that I did with these products.

If your skin is red and sore it needs to be healed so I would use a 1% Hydro cortisone cream you can get at the drug store over the counter. Make sure you don't get the cream in your eyes or it will burn.I used that cream for years to keep my skin healed and my doctor said it would not thin out my skin. Good luck

Well, there's your problem.

You are washing your face too often and using too many products.

All you need to do is wash your face twice a day, morning and night.

That's all.

More than that, and you are stripping your skin of its natural oils that it needs.

Too many products can over-dry the skin.

All anybody really needs is a mild face wash, and moisturiser.

Your face needs to heal from all of the damage that you have done to it by excessively washing it, and using too many products.

Cut back to washing your face twice a day, and just using a light moisturiser, and your skin will return to normal.

I have also used the Eucerin products and Argon Oil. The Argon Oil makes me break out and I get little white bumps. What I use for my really bad dryness, huge patches on my face (especially around my entire mouth and chin) is Aquaphor. Within 2-3 days the dryness is gone. I wash my face with warm water and then use cold water to close the pores. I never use hot water. I hope this helps and you find some relief. It is very upsetting to deal with this. I have bad dryness all over my body from a disease I have, so I understand completely. Enjoy your holidays.

You need to take a fish oil or pumpkin seed oil supplement , Also try usingb cetaphil that comes in the tub on your skin , It is soothing and will help your skin , I have used this and it helps tremendously. After you apply it just tissue off whatever doesn't sink in after 5 or 10 minutes. It has almond oil in it and will make your skin look nice.If you have some really rough areas then put a dab of aquaphor on them . I use a soap with apple cider viegar n it and it helps exfoliate and smooth my skin ,

cathy from ma

The cheapest and best products that ALWAYS work for me when my skin gets so dry and and flakey that even when I wash it, it burns. Is wash my face 2x a day with CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser followed with CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion then top with a layer of Vaseline. I know a lot people might knock it but it works for me Everytime I ever have Really dry skin or if I've used products that irritated my skin. 😊 Hope it helps I know how painful it can be.
