Press on nails

Anyone a fan of glue on temporary nails? I enjoy wearing them. Do you have a favorite place to purchase them that has a good selection? I prefer the short square shape. Can you post pics of some of your favorites?

I remember Lee Press-On Nails. They were all the rage for a while.

@ValuSkr Lee Press On Nails were the first thing I thought of too! In the late eighties...had to wear them when I would go to Las Vegas. The heat would soften the sticky tab and they'd be sliding all over the place. Plus I pretty much lost use of my hands because I wasn't used to nails that extended past the tip of my ifnger. Fun memories!

@MercysMom, Ok, here is what I have always wondered about with press-on nails. How to do they fit at the cuticle? What if the nail has a squared off cuticle area, and your own cuticle is rounded?

I think they look fake. One presentation I saw the Rep had them on and they looked too big and she held her hands like they were going to fall off or pop off.

I have been wearing them for a year. These are glue on, not press on. I get more compliments on my nails. I have saved $140 a month by not going to get my nail done at a shop. I have a better nail bed, because I do my cubicles and every coupled of weeks, when I change them, I leave them off for a couple of days.

I buy mine at WALGREENS for $6.99. One box has 24 nails. I also get very creative with them. Remember, these are glue on. Tried the press on, they don,t stay.

Many years ago the glue on were very popular, before the acrylic ever were out In Shops. I use to wear them then. My manacurist could not do fancy, now I have fancy.

My granddaughter in law asked me where I got my nails done and couldn't,t believe it. Not a new concept. Love them.

Glue on nails have come a long way since Lee press on. They come in all shapes and sizes. I have rounded cuticles too. I like the Kiss brand nails. It has 10 different sizes and the cuticle end are rounded, but you can simply file them (very easy to file) to fit your finger. As for the length, they also come in all lengths. Again, you can file the shorter. I like to buy the short length or the one they call petite, which is very normal looking. I don't like the ones that are really long...can't use your fingers. Amazon has a nice assortment as well as my local drugstores and walmart.

If anyone is considering trying them, take a look at a few youtube videos. They explain how to prep the nail and apply. Always treat your cuticles and push them gently back before applying. Also, they adhere better if you give your natural nails a slight file before applying the glue. Such a less expensive option than the salon and the glue doesn't damage my natural nails.

I had a couple of boxes like that, but the rest were rounded. I returned those. I lay them out after I have given my self a nice manicure, soak my fingers in warm oil and push back my cuticles with the wooden stick provided and use cuticle softener. To not spend $140 a month, the little time it takes to do it right is worth it to me. I don,t have to wait for the manacurist to fix a broken nail on the night I am going out, although I could have used a glue on nail then.

To each their own, I love them.

This is the pair I'm working on this morning. These are my "going out" length as I have a little party to attend tonight. Normally I wear a much shorter length. Please forgive the polish on my skin. Need to clean that up with a qtip.

Many years ago I thought I could do my nails tips, did not work out well for me, I ended up pulling my nails off the nail bed and most of them literally fell apart, it was just not worth it to me.

I can't imagine artificial nails lasting long without glue.

I have one nail that splits when it grows beyond my nail bed. I almost always wear a Cosmar nail tip on it. When polished it doesn't appear different from my natural nails.

I've used the nailene French nails and I really liked them. They were the kind that you glue on so they stayed really well.

After reading about these nails I went to Youtube and the woman explained how to put them on and a lot of info on them. She got the French nail ones she said they are new from Kiss and they looked so real. I would have never guessed they were fake. They have come a long way in how they look.
