I was just channel surfing and happened upon EvineLive where they are selling a line of skincare called Sirot. I have never heard of it. It just seems they all promise amazing results, but I have yet to find one that really does for me. I am currently using Dr. Perricone Neuropeptide cream and the lifting cream - been using it about 6 months and can't say that I see any change whatsoever to my skin. Last time I will spend $200.00 for one tube of cream! When I run out of the stuff, I am just going to stick with drugstore products like Boots 7. Much cheaper and probably just as good, if not better.

Skin care is a huge money-making business. The stories always seem the same. This one says she sold her home blah, blah, blah to finance her skin care line. Sounds similar to the one on QVC who sold her engagement ring.

I agree completely. Every time I watch some dermatologist or style guru on a news program or talk show recommending skin care, it's always a drugstore product. Just 2 days ago some "expert" was praising Boots No.7 on a morning news program. I've never seen one of these experts recommending Skinn, Perricone, Dr. Denese or the like. We have a confusing amount of choices and can buy whatever we want - but for me, I'll buy drugstore brands.

Happy New Year!

Something I read: skincare, weighloss products and porn are the 3 industries that produce the largest profits.

Skincare is top, however. We're talking trillions not in sales but PROFITS. Blows my mind.

As far as skincare is concerned, there are magic cures, no mircle creams, nothing to remove wrinkles that are already there, no cream to firm necks & jowls or take away lines & crows feet under eyes. Do not believe the hype of firming & lifting creams. If you didn't start using the only 4 effective skincare products when you were younger (I started at 35), you can begin now: moisturizer for face/neck & chest (same one), eye cream, prescription strength Retin A and sunscreen on face/neck/ & chest.

Any sagging, bagging and loose skin is only repaired by a facelift which removes the excess skin. A facelift will not however remove wrinkles. Wrinkled skin is sun damaged/not cared for over the years & no longer elastic. No matter how tight it is pulled, the skin itself will maintain the wrinkles. My friend wanted a "lift" and the plastic surgeon refused telling her all of the above. He added that she would be disappointed w/ the results because although some sagging could be corrected, she would still have old looking skin. He recommended that she try the 4 steps I mentioned above for 6 months and return for another consultation. It's been 3 months and over coffee the other day, we both see improvement. The Retin A is a natural exfoliant & builds collagen, the moisturizers can then sink in & plump the wrinkles & sunscreen is a must 365 days a yr. rain or shine, but especially if using Retin A which makes skin more sensitive to the sun. Start 2017 w/ 4 new skincare products for 6 months. What do you have to lose?

Our society puts so much emphasis on youth that it is no wonder that many are still looking for whatever product or procedure will help them look younger. I think most of the claims for these products are questionable and not very scientific. Some of these products might help a bit, but nothing can stop aging. I see no need to spend hundreds of dollars on one product. If a product was really that great it would BIG news everywhere - not just hyped on a shopping channel or magazine ad. The choices out there are overwhelming so I stick to scientific facts which is why my main anti aging products are daily SPF & Retin A. I also use BHA for my acne prone skin.

I tried lots of things and wasted money on products that promised to clear my skin. The problem is everyone's skin responds differently to certain ingredients. So whether it be acne cures or anti aging claims, there isn't one thing that works for all of us. If they ever do find that one "magic" ingredient, I'm sure it will be big news.

I probably have at least 4 or 5 different skin care lines and I do use them all usually switching out every few months. Will do that until they are gone and have not bought anymore. I have to admit that my skin looks great at 62 but still have the very few lines and wrinkles here and there all of which have not changed for the better or worse. I am blessed by good skin genes more so than not. I do, however, think my use of the clarisonic mia and the Luna have done really great things for my face. And I do think that there are really good ingredients in my skincare products and feel I get more from them due to the facial appliances I use. But agree a plastic surgeon is the only way to get rid of any percieved imperfections. If I had tons of $ I'd be in there to have the bags under my eyes removed.

I just found this while googling...Americans are at the top of of the list for spending on cosmetics globally, followed by Japan. Europeans not so much. Americans also top the least satisfied with life...whatever that means.
