topic Facial laser or peel for men? in Beauty

My brother is in his late 40s and looks older due to sun exposure (his face is quite crepey and textured/wrinkled). When he recently went to the dermatologist to have a small growth removed, the conversation about "sun exposure" brought them to a discussion about wrinkles. The doctor suggested that he consider laser resurfacing and (from what my brother heard at least) seemed to say that he could eliminate most of his fine lines and make major improvement to the deep creasing. He was intrigued to say the least, but thinks of this as "plastic surgery" which he would not really consider... Has anyone experienced laser resurfacing? How might this compare to some of the peels that are out there? Downtime? He seemed to blow it off and didn't ask the right questions, but I think that he should consider it if it will make him look and feel better about himself.
