Josie's Argan oil or another less expensive brand?

I went on another site and was amazed at the Argan Oil choices at lower prices. If you have tried other brands, what do think? How do they compare to Josie Maran's Argan Oil?

As long as the product is pure, first pressed & organic (and the only ingredient is argan oil) , it's the same thing as Josie's. Only different is she is a celebrity and you're paying for the name. I've used Acure Organic Morrocco Oil and for an oz only cost about $8. It comes from a womans cooperative in Morrocco. Josie's light argan oil contains other ingredients. Save your money and don't purchase Josie's.

Definitely better values elsewhere. Wish she would take some of that money she's making and purchase clothing that doesn't look so trashy. I understand that she needs to be able to demonstrate her products, but the excessive cleavage revealed in a large number of her costumes is distasteful, reduces her credibility as a beauty professional, and serves no purpose. Such a beautiful and successful woman should embrace something other than her sex appeal, particularly considering her target audience.

As long as they are both first cold pressed and 100% argan oil (no additives), it's the same thing. Check out Shea Terra Organics. They always post a 30 off code too. It's always the first three letters of the current month (lower case) plus the four digits of the year.

I use Acure Organics Marula oil and I have their Argan oil w/Rose too. I prefer the Marula because it absorbs quickly and not as heavy as Argan. Both are under $20. You only need one pump for your whole face. Acure Organics has very nice products. The oils are cold pressed.

There are many Argan Oil products out there that cost far less. I ended up getting my Argan Oil at Whole Food when I used it.

I admit. I bought into the hype, and discovered eventually, that there are far better moisturizers out there. Argan is the oil du jour for the time being.

I live 2 1/2 hrs from NYC & that is where I purchase my "pure" argan oil (large size) when I visit. I always stock up. It is a Moroccan alchemist store. Like Josie, the owner does not use heat. The owner was on Dr Oz. The store has a website called The Herban Alchemist.

Prices are cheaper than Q's.

My Plan B is a website called Shea Terra Organics. They also sell pure argan oil for the same $$$ as the above mentioned store.

Unknown if they use heat or not.

I have discovered that nobody beats Josie's 19 oz body butter Q's prices even w/taxes & s&h included.

@Mz iMac, I can't bold the part of your post about Shea Terra, but no, their product in not refined in any way, at least according to their press.

Definitely lower priced options elsewhere that are just as good even if they don't have Josie's name on it. Really don't get the hype!

No Shea Terra does not use heat. IMO, I prefer Shea Terra's to all the others I've tried, which includes Josies because I do like the idea of the oil in it's most natural state. I don't really use argan oil anymore though since I prefer other oils instead.

Josie DOES deodorize hers which uses some degree of heat to do so so it is not as "pure" as she likes to claim.

To this day, a Moroccan friend of my cousin sends my aunt argan oil once a year. My aunt is 101 yrs old, healthy, looks 70. She is a walking testiment to what aragan oil can do if you use it daily.

I believe she means the hype of Josie's Argan oil that comes with the exorbitant price tag when there are other brands that are just as good or even more pure that cost alot less.

I agree with the statements made about the processing of the oil. If I am just buying a bottle of argan oil alone, Shea Terra is my brand. I like Josie Maran's products, but mainly buy sets such as TSVs from her. Usually there is a bottle of her argan oil in the sets.

I agree for the price, Shea Terra Argan Oil is an excellent choice.I love Josie's unscented & vanilla Pear Body Butters so I have purchased tsvs that contain her Argan oil & have a few back ups.One other oil that I love is Life Flo Rosehip Seed Oil which is cold pressed. I buy it at the Vitamin Shoppe & its under 10.00. I do suggest whatever you decide to buy that the bottle is amber.The oils shelf life lasts longer than a clear bottle.

I did a bit of reading after seeing this post the other day and supposedly it is possible to double filter argan oil without using heat. This makes it virtually unscented.

I like JM's products, but from what I've read about aromatherapy there are tons of good carrier oils out there from reputable companies. Some need to be blended with lighter oils, some are better for oilier skin (grapeseed oil comes to mind), and some supposedly even have some sun protection capabilities.

I must admit I'm very curious as to the wide price range for argan oil. If there's only so many of the trees, how can so much argan oil be produced and at such low prices? After reading in my Consumer Lab newsletter about the absence of any aloe vera in products that listed it in their ingredients (Target, WalMart, and other brands), I can't help but wonder if we are truly getting 100 percent argan oil or if it is being cut with other oils, which aren't shown on the ingredient list.

Does anyone know of a dupe for the body butters that is really moisturizing, I find that philosophy smells good but is not as moisturizing.
