Just wanted anyone's opinion on what there skin looks like with Retinol.

It sounds like you are getting results, just need to fine tune your routine to make sure flakes are removed and your skin is properly moisturized and protected. For me, because I am no longer young, the "glow" in my opinion takes a lot of work. Due to the exfoliation factor of retinol/ retin A it can leave your skin looking flaky or dry. I also use a gentle exfoliant when necessary in the mornings daily to remove any peels. (Again, this is my opinion - some peeling is o.k., you can exfoliate that and reveal the skin beneath: redness or irritation is not). For dryness, look up "buffering" retin A. I listen to my skin and if necessary back off for a day or two. Also, I moisturize, use vitamin C for brightness, and work on the glow from the inside out with food and supplements.

I use Tretinoin (Retin A), which is a prescription. Have used it for over 10 years and it has helped the texture of my skin remain smooth and even. I am 63, and the inevitable lines and wrinkles are there, but I think there are fewer than I would have had if I had not used the product. As my dermatologist says, it is the gold standard.

I have also used prescription Retin A for 3 years. Over the counter retinol did not do anything for me. I am in my 50s with very oily acne prone skin and a few eye and nose to mouth wrinkles. The prescription strength has helped my skin's texture, clarity, and I haven't seen any new wrinkles.

I started using RX strength Retin A about 25-30 yrs. ago. My dermatologist was a personal friend & at THAT time Retin A was usually only prescribed for acne. One of the side effects that docs started noticing was that the exfoliating nature of Retin A kept skin cells turning over & also helped new collagen production. I've noticed my skin looks significantly younger than my friends....but I also have never laid in the sun to tan, wear SPF 50 every day (a MUST w/ Retin A since your skin is more sun sensitive) & have followed a strict skincare routine. I knew w/ such fair skin, I'd have to commit to caring for it to have good results in my 60's.

Retina A is not retinol. Retinol is the lesser sister of retina A. Just so the OP knows. I have been using PC retinol but I haven't really noticed anything with my deep I laugh lines. But overall with my skincare and PC products my skin looks really good.

I've been using retinol for about two years. I'm 61 and never had any wrinkles to begin with. I do, however, have those vertical lip lines around my mouth and retinol does not seem to do anything for them. What I have noticed after using retinol all this time is that my skin appears really shiny-smooth, almost bordering unnaturally shiny even without anything on it. I also use it on my neck and dec which I think helps keep any crepiness at bay.

My impression is that a good retinol can help reduce fine lines over time. It may be a good place to start. Yes I have used retinol - and Retin A. If I could only choose one, it would be Retin A. Currently, I am alternating.

My dermatologist sings it's praises, but it can be a bit drying, esp in winter. So I just put a few drops of Josie's Aragan oil with it and problem solved! I told my dermatologist about adding the Aragan oil to retina-a, and she stated that was just fine--that it would not reduce its effectiveness whatsoever. A lot goes a long way, and it is very expensive, yet my FSA program reimburses me. I am still young and am using for prevention 10-20 years down the road. Give it a try.

I'm seeing a difference with Consult Beaute. I use the pads, serum, then cream, Regenerol line. I exfoliate every morning and use their caviar cleanser. My skin is glowing. No retinol I have ever used reduces lines or prevented new ones. I also have used Skinmedica 1% retinol. I am starting on their Ceramide cream, since I'm aggravated with Evine shipping, and Consult Beaute half filled jars. But I hope to stay with their pads, and serum. Now I want to mention...I went to my Derm for a filler consultation for my smile lines, and they made it clear...no cream will remove wrinkles or lines. They may add moisture to the skin and temporarily plump, but the deeper lines are from the facial skin folding in. Only a lift from fillers in cheeks or injected directly into lines will smooth it out. They said I have beautiful full skin...just need these lines out around mouth. I will continue to take care of my skin regardless. I also will have Juverderm done on the lines. I have lost volume in my face, and no retinol or cream is going to give that back.

I have tried the Volumagen...it DID NOT add any volume. I used both serum and cream...no added volume...but nice moisturizers. I watched the presentations with that model who was all plumped out and lifted...I saw nothing like that. I'll continue with their Regenerol line..just for nice skin.
