I have a difficult time finding a mascara that does what I want. I'm not talking false (glue on) eyelashes & can't think of what they are called, but.....am I too old?? I don't want to look like "cow eyelashes", but want my eyes to be noticed.

There is a you tube video that shows how the extensions are applied. I am 69 and I use Latisse. It takes a few weeks before you notice any results but it really works for me. I still wear mascara but I make sure I use an eyelash comb to remove the excess product. I am not a fan of tarantula eyes. Only down side is the expense.

I lost most of my eyelashes and eyebrows when I was 19. (I'm 62) I add color to my brows but quit worrying about my eyelashes a long time ago. There isn't much you can do when you have less than 20% of your eyelashes. I use eyeliner and natural colors to open up my eyes.

I have found that the eyelashes on my right eye have broken as I age. I think it might be because I sleep mostly on that side. I am kind of clumsy with eyeliner, faux lashes, etc. but have found that IT tightline mascara helps fill this area out. I know that isn't exactly what you were asking but maybe it will help!

No, not at all!!

I wore false lashes for years until I finally tried Revita Lash and OMG, the difference is shocking! No more false lashes for me (I've always had thinner lashes but long so this made my lash line very thick). Much cheaper than lash extensions, which is why I tried it first.

My MIL is 80 and lost all her lashes to cancer (chemo and radiation). What grew in are very tiny and sparse wisps of lashes. The lash growers (what I use) made her eyes itch, she doesn't want to spend the money on the up-keep of extensions (not even sure they would work on what she has) so she went with false lashes (something she wore a LOT during the 60's and 70's).

She puts them on almost daily and you would NEVER know they weren't her own as the choice of lashes out there is wonderful. There are many YouTube videos of women over 60 and 70 and 80 who discuss this topic; should you, the choices of lashes and how to apply.

I say GO FOR IT and enjoy!!!

I will be 62 in a couple of months and I've worn eyelash extensions for over a year.

My lash tech is very, very good and that's one of the secrets to wearing extensions successfully. You have to find someone who knows what they are doing. I get a full natural look without a very artificial look. She won't do over the top long or thick.

I can go 4 weeks between fills and I don't have any lash damage. I love that my eyes always look done-even when rolling out of bed. If I choose not to wear shadow on a stay at home casual day, it still looks s though I put some makeup on.

Best beauty decision I ever made!

@Perkup,

My lash tech just happened to be at my nail salon. She does nails only occasionally. Her main focus is eyelashes, facials and permanent makeup tattooing.

I would suggest googling "lash entensions" for your area and reading the reviews of customers. You may have to experiment with some different technicians before you find someone who does exactly what you like.

I live in an area with lots of retired people and older people (me included!) and I would say the average age of ladies getting their lashes done is well over 55. It's not just for the young!

There is a new tattooing procedure for brows called Microblade tattooing. The results are absolutely the most realistic I've ever seen. The tattoo looks exactly like individual brow hairs. I'm saving up to get this done next year. I have brows but they are very faded.

I have very little, if any, damage to my eyelashes. A few of the poster's mentioned the importance of having a tech who knows what they are doing. I couldn't agree more! Ask around for recommendations. Perhaps your hair stylist can assist.

there are several different kinds, mink, faux mink and others. Individual or clumps of three. Also different lengths.

I still ill wear mascara when going out at night ( which I don't do often).

Ive worn false lashes 40 years or more everyday. My real lashes are fine but sparse. My eye DR.sees me every 6 months for check -up and knows about the lashes ,glue etc...I have to have the pressure in both eyes checked .We have talked many times about all the eye make up and he is fine with what I do...the strip lashes are what I wear and are easy to apply.Expense is not that much and eyelashes can be removed if you want to sleep. It takes alittle practice until you get the hang of it..Youtube has many videos to watch to learn how.....By the way I will be 76 soon......you are never too old......

You are never too old to enhance your natural beauty but I, for one, did not have a positive experience with lash extensions. For one, it's an expensive commitment. Once you commit to the process, there's an ongoing cost to keep the look up. Because I can't sleep on my back (which is what's recommended) I would wake up with my lash extensions going in all different directions, from getting mashed in my pillow, and using a wet spoolie to brush my lashes into place became a necessary routine. Then there's your natural lash growth which again causes your lash extensions to grow out with your own lashes (in different directions), making them difficult to tame. I couldn't wash my face as I've always done (Clarisonic plus lots of splashing of water to rinse) and had to avoid all eye products (serums, creams AND makeup) that contained oil and use an oil-free eye makeup remover.

Having said that, I didn't give up on getting more noticeable lashes. I've never applied false eyelashes and I don't have time to mess with that in the morning when I'm getting ready for work, so I decided to give a lash growth product a try. On September 1st, I started using Rapidlash every night before bed. I have noticed some growth already to where my lashes touch the lenses of my sunglasses where they didn't before. When I finish the tube of Rapidlash, I have a bottle of Careprost waiting to be tried next. I purchased it in case the Rapidlash didn't yield any results but I'm impressed with what I'm getting so far. Just another option.

Tks!! This is what I was concerned with also-sleeping. I was worried they would get mashed up while sleeping. This answered part of my concerns. I will take a look into the other products recommended in this thread. Cost is a concern also.

Tks ladies!! I can always count on advise here.

You are never to old to look and feel good. I've worn extensions for about 7 years. I swim and have no problem with crushing when I sleep. I comb them every morning and go every two weeks for touch ups. It's mportant to go to an experienced facility. I found my tech via my nail technician after I retired but prior to that, I went to a salon in NYC that only did lash extensions that was a known name.
