Searching for good eyeliners

I am in search of a good eyeliner that does doesn't look too harsh and has staying power. Any suggestions?

Makeup forever Aqualiners and Marc Jacobs highliners are totally budgeproof. Looking harsh is a function of the color so go with a soft brown or grey instead of black.

I recommend using a good quality darker brown eye shadow--easy to control, stays all day and doesn't look harsh.

Bobbi Brown eye liner gel in espresso. it lasts until you take it off. The deep brown is almost black but does not look harsh.

As far as staying power, the Kat Von D lightning liners stay on like crazy.

I received a sample of this and it is extremely nice. Caviar eye stick colour by Laura Mercier. Right now only one color is left to purchase. Check it out under eye shadow as it displays all the colors it does come in. You can use as a liner or shadow.

I find as I get older I only wear black in my waterline, if I wear black at all. I've been wearing brown and grey. I have 2 Tarte skinny eyeliner in Bronze and Tiger Eye and I love them. They are beautiful colors! I also have a purple and grey Tarte eyeliners and I like them too, but I find myself wearing the brown colors more often.

I just bought a Nars eyeliner from Sephora and it is just the ticket. Looks natural and doesn't run at all. Really like it.

The Laura Geller ones I bought here always smeared and ran...I may have to toss those.

My preference is Urban Decay 24/7 pencils. They stay put on me and never smudge or travel. And they have the best array of shades.

Smash box Always sharp eyeliner in Penny Lane. I'm fair with blonde hair and blue eyes. It's the perfect soft color my complexion and makes my blue eyes pop. It sharpens every time you put the cap on.

@winamac1 I have never used paint eyeliner before. I have always used the pencil-kind of eyeliners. Is it hard applying it with a brush? I am up for trying new things, but just wondering if I can do it well.

@wvumountiefan The skinny eyeliner on QVC is $19 for one. And there is a set of 4 color clayed eyeliner for $29. Do you know if those are comprable to the skinny?

@Snoopp that's good to know about Laura Geller eyeliners. I was thinking about buying the Laura Geller ones because they have a set of three on Zulily today.

I like them, but I have allergies and rub my eyes pretty often. They don't hold up to my eye rubbing though.

The thing I love about liquid is that it covers well. Pencil on me never fills in well on the lash line in the same way that liquid does. I've also never had a pencil liner that can stand up to my allergies and eye rubbing like a good liquid does.

I liked this at first, but after trying for a while it really irritated my contact lenses, and like @jaxs mom I found it didn't hold up. I saw they have another formula for waterline, and I may give it a try.
