I just filled my prescription for 45mg of Atralin 0.05% Gel.

The dermatologist warned me that my insurance may not cover any of it but he gave a coupon that said as a cash paying patient I would pay no more than $75.

I went to the pharmacy and they checked and sure enough my insurance company will not cover any of it. The pharmacist told me she had to call the drug company to get a discount code so she would call me tomorrow to let me know that the Rx was ready.

I went home and immediately got a call from the pharmacy that they got a code and because my insurance wouldn't pick up any of it I would only be charge $25.

Now a tube of this stuff retails from the manufacturer without any discounts for $350.99.

How can they sell it to me and presumably many, many others for $25 -$75??? Why don't they just make it a reasonable price so everyone can get it if they need it? I'll never understand this pharma/drug marketing strategy.

I have 3 re-fills on my Rx and the pharmacist already said, I don't know what will happen the next time you come in for it. I don't know either.

I think a tube of Atralin will last me about 4 months. I must say, I am very impressed with it so far. I can't use it every day yet..maybe 3-4 times a week. But other than some more oilyness (which the doctor warned me about) and some redness in the morning there have been no other side effects.

On the positive side, I can absolutely see my skin getting smoother, fewer bumps, tighter pores...I use an 11x medical grade magnification mirror...painful but keeps me from makeup goofs...so I always check it just before I leave the house.

catlvr
