Non-Drying Hand Wash

I have been using Beekman hand washes that leave my hands soft & not dried out. They are a little on the expensive side as much as I wash my hands. I bought a few different hand washes to see if I could find any that would not dry out my hands. I tried Avalon Organics lemon which works pretty good but my hands were just a little dry. I also tried South of France Shea Butter & Aloe which I really like. I took it to Fl with me & used it at hotels & my sisters house. My hands are so soft & not dry at all. Have not applied much lotion either. They have other scents but have not tried any of those yet. So if you are looking for a nice hand wash I recommend trying the South of France Shea Butter & Aloe.

Do you know of any hand washes that leave your hands soft & not dry?

I use Dr. Bronner's soap as there are liquid or bar soaps in different scents. I've used it for many years as I have dry skin.

In the winter my skin usually gets drier, but I have no problem whatsoever using Dr. Bronner's soap.

I buy it from my grocery or drug store and it can be ordered online.

I like the B&BW moisturizing hand soaps. They make them in many flavors and some are anti-bacterial.

@SilleeMee I have been using those for years & still have some left. My hands were always dry & constantly applying lotion. I always stocked up during the semi-annual sale. I quit buying them & their wallflowers since I'm always stopped up. They had to stop making the anti-bacterial so as soon as those are sold out they won't have them. They don't have any anti-bacterial at the store here.

I guess this thread & all the different soaps people can use that don't dry out their skin will be different for us all. What works for one does not always work for the other.

I take fish oil & evening primrose oil daily that I feel helps keep my skin from being so dry.

@Sunshine Kate I have used Dr. Bonner's in the shower. I have never used it as a daily hand wash. I did see online where some people add some to one of those foaming hand wash bottles & add water. Guess I need to at least give it a try.

Thanks for the recommendation, @Nightowlz. I used South of France bar soap for awhile, but never tried the liquid hand soap. I've been enjoying Beekman's myself. I did order a couple of the soap & lotion sets with the caddy, but won't be ordering anymore for awhile. I'm very well stocked on all things Beekman (bath and body wise, that is). The Bounty Boxes come with a body wash & lotion, so I'm using that body wash as a hand soap at the sink since I prefer the bar soap in the shower. Now that I've switched over to Beekman, I haven't really felt the need to look any further.

Oh did not realize they stopped carrying the antibac soaps. I don't use antibac soaps. I think they can be drying.

I like Trader Joe or philosophy hand wash. They are the only ones that don't dry my hands.

I'm stocked with Beekman also. I wanted to find another hand wash to use in the kitchen & other bathroom. I have Beekman hand wash in my bathroom. If I put it in the kitchen it would be gone in no time. DH would use way more then he needs.

I just received the honeysuckle kit Fri but forgot about it & have not used it yet. I don't really care for the body washes as it does not suds much & I tend to use to much. Too expensive for that. I have used it to clean my makeup brushes & will use others I have as hand wash. I'm with you as I like their bar soap in the shower.

Do you know when the next Beekman show is? I thought they were going to be on end of this month but they are not on the schedule.

We don't have a Trader Joe's so that's out for me. I did not know Philosophy had hand washes.

@SilleeMee B&BW had Triclosan in it. I was buying the anti-bacterial moisturizing hand washes.

There are indications that certain ingredients in these soaps may contribute to bacterial resistance to antibiotics, and may have unanticipated hormonal effects that are of concern to FDA.

We don't use anti-bac soaps in our home. DH would never let us. I was disappointed years ago when BBW went to those and nothing else.

A good moisturizing hand soap is Yardley of London English Lavender. I can find it only at Walmart. But when they have it in, I stock up! The price is great too!

Otherwise, I use BBW hand soaps that are not anti-bac!

Sunshine - this works great. Best idea I ever tried!

Take a old foaming hand soap bottle

add about 1/2 inch of soap to the bottom - amount is trial and error

Fill with COLD water (warm/hot water will create too many suds)

I started doing this after I bought Dr B almond scent and did not like it in the shower. Obviously I did not want to waste it so......hand soap.

I even mix scents now. Rose and almond are lovely.

This is a real $avings. and has saved my hands!

@beach-mom I like the Yardley Oatmeal bar soap. They have it & the lavender at Dollar Tree here for $1 per bar. You can order a case online for $24 for 24 bars & have it shipped free to their store for pick up.

They used to carry a liquid hand wash when they first opened in our area that I really liked. They don't carry it anymore & don't remember the name of it.

I use Olivella liquid soap. You can buy it on Amazon. I dilute half and half with water. It is the only soap/handwash that doesn't dry my hands. Olive oil is naturally antiseptic, too.

I found several types of hand wash by a company called Deep Steep at TJ Maxx and Marshall's. You can Google Deep Steep and find it at various websites with various prices. It is $4.99 - $5.99 per 17.6 oz of liquid hand soap at the TJ Maxx and Marshall's locations near me. I get eczema on my hands very easily due to sensitivities to many ingredients, and I've had zero problems with this brand. It really moisturizes my skin. I love it!

@Nightowlz - I've tried the oatmeal, but I really like the lavender. That's what my mom always used. Thanks for the info about ordering online. I'm going to get a case of it!

I make my own with old foaming hand soap dispensers and Dr. Bronner's. I use 2-3 tablespoons of soap to 1 cup of water. Cherry Blossom and Unscented are the most moisturizing in my opinion, but you could always add glycerin or almond oil to add a more moisturizing effect. This has really cut down on our hands being so dry they crack, and we wash our hands A LOT due to pottytraining our son.
