Another Paula's Choice question - Her SPF day moisturizers

I plan to stay with Paula's line as some of her products have improved my skin so well - notably, the Daily Pore Refining 2% BHA exfolient which is a God send for my skin, and the Resist Barrier Repair night moisturizer.

I really want to like the Resist Cellular Defense Daily Moisturizer 25 SPF, but it's so heavy and tacky and leaves a white cast from the minerals. I've tried samples of the Resist Super-Light Wrinkle Defense SPF 30, and love the light tint that matches my skin perfectly, but it makes my face feel tight and not as moisturized.

Is there something in the middle? I'd love to hear feedback. Thank you.

I am sending that moisturizer back. Your right it is so sticky. It's awful. Only good if your going to the beach and no makeup. I got some samples of the skin recovery and it's pretty nice. I got the one without SPF though.

@PilatesLover, I had the same problem with those two sunscreens. At first I thought that the latter one would work, but it really did make my face feel too dry.

You might try a sample of the Skin Recovery with SPF. I don't think that I've ever tried it. I use a very inexpensive sunscreen for my daily walks because I want to slather it on.

Yes, there is something in the middle. If you skin is normal to oily, get the Skin Balancing Ultra Sheer Daily Defense. I used this year round until meno hit, then I just used it in the summer. It goes on almost like water. As my skin has aged and changed, I have now completely switched to Skin Recovery Daily Moisturizing Lotion--something I used to use in winter when I was using the Balancing in the summer. Now my skin needs it all the time. I didn't care for the Resist Moisturizer either. And I also love the Barrier Repair night moisturizer.

@PilatesLover, just a reminder that some of her sunscreens are mineral (physical) and some are chemical, if that's important to you.

I use Resist Super-Light Wrinkle Defense SPF 30, but I agree it isn't enough moisture. I use another moisturizer first, then use hers as sunscreen on top.

I had the same problem with the Mineral SPF - it was too tacky, and the tinted SPF left my skin orange from the Quecertin.

I only use physical sunscreens. Her chemical SPFs are really nice if you want to try one of those. I have tried all of them and used them before I switched to physical sunscreens.

I finally gave up and started using Elta MD Clear. Btw, I have been using Paula's line since 2007.

I think I'm the only one on these boards that likes the cellular defense. I hated it the first time I tried it but I've learned to spread it between my fingers and then it easily applies. I like that it's moisturizing and my concealer, blush and Face Defender work well with it. Sadly for me, there was something about every other PC SPF product I tried that I hated. Curses to Olay for changing my beloved spf 30 moisturizer, lol.

I personally love her Resist Day moisturizer with spf. I apply it to my fingers, then rub together and apply. That irks well for me no I have no problems with my make-up.

Thank you everyone for your helpful responses. I had no idea there were physical versus chemical sunscreends. I ordered a sample of the Skin Recovery SPF and also the oil booster, but may have to just find another SPF moisturizer.

Hi There,

Sounds like you might need a moisturizer under a lighter sunscreen. I personally use Paula's Choice Extra Care Non-greasy sunscreen spf 50 on my body but have also used it on my face. It absorbs completely with no white cast. You could get a sample and see how it works for you. Plus comparatively speaking it is cost effective! Half the price but double the product!
