Shampoo to fade color??

Is there a shampoo that can actually strip the color from dyed hair? My last color came out too dark at the hairdresser and I would like it faded before I go for my next cut n color, (at my new hairdresser).

Suave Daily Clarifying shampoo is great. It does clean your hair really well and will strip your color but it does not dry out your hair. If you google it, you see many people use it to remove color.

Pau Mitchell Clarifying Shampoo 3. I had a similar problem last time I got highlights the stylist put on a toner and it dulled the highlights way too much. I used this shampoo twice and it lightened the toner and didn't harm my highlights. Then I switched to my normal shampoo that doesn't strip or fade my hair as much. I seriously think over time most shampoos affect my highlights. even the blue ones made for colored blonde hair.

Most clarifying shampoos should do the trick!

I do have a friend who used old blue Dawn dish soap too take her dye job down two shades in one wash. She said it was a miracle! Yet another use for the blue magic!

Prell shampoo. It'll strip anything out of your hair. Some reviewers on amazon say it saved them from their bad dye jobs.

My sister used Dawn dish soap after getting lowlights that were way too dark. It really did help a lot. The only "bad" thing was her hair became super tangled after washing the dish soap out, so be sure to use a ton of conditioner afterwards, or else you won't be able to run a comb through your hair !

Prell shampoo not only smells great after all these many many years, but as somone else said, it will strip anything from your hair!

I love that shampoo for highlighted hair. I use it once a week and it keeps my highlights a beautiful shade of honey blonde. Three times a week I use Wen.

Try this , it works, this was a method recommended to me by a rep from Revlon hair color.

Lather either a dandruff shampoo or clarifying shampoo onto DRY hair, let it sit for about 30 minutes before rinsing. You can repeat as often as needed for desired results.

Hi Shel,

I was going to suggest lathering your dry hair with Head and Shoulders, then leave it on your hair for at least 20 minutes.

Hi, Lu, yes it worked for me , but the hair must be DRY, hope all is well in this heat wave today.

Dumb question😩 Do you make the lather with water and then apply to hair or do you apply the shampoo directly to hair and then rub into a lather?

Apply either a clarifying or dandruff shampoo directly from the bottle onto DRY hair, it will lather.

I too have heard so did try it, took a few shampoos using it as is on dry hair and letting it set awhile but did do the trick.

How exciting to know about this. Had no idea dawn and prell worked to fade color. My hair was colored black that it made me look dead and older than I am. So curious to try this method

Adding a little baking soda to any shampoo will give you some fading. I do that every so often if I have used a lot of product on my hair. It cuts right thru it.
